Libertine I will say this again...if SJM and the new pending owner let McDermott walk away at this point in the season, and jeopardizing it, with us sitting in 3rd with a very good shot at automatic promotion...I will take a much dimmer view of our potential future with the new owner.

I don't care who they get in, even Fergie, trying to get a new gaffer in at this point of the season will probably be disasterous. Trying to change the style of play, getting to know the personnel, etc. I will be really pissed if this goes down when we currently sit in 3rd place in the table. It would be amateur hour.

+1

Agreed

TBM
muddyfeet Maybe he wants more stability than a rolling one yr contract

Exactly - he has already admitted not knowing what the new owners have planned - for all we know they may have someone else lined up

But he's always asked for the one year, as Steve Coppell did.

As it stands right now Wolves have the better chance of being in the Premier League next season than we do. Quadruple his money and be in a no worse position than he is currently in now for next season must be very tempting.

14 pages because of something Jonny Fordham says, that he also ripped off of someone who tweeted him hours earlier and then deleted their message?

I think I'll just wait until Reading confirm one way or the other!

I do wonder if the TSI takeover has hit a rocky patch....

SJM repeatedly talked about the deal not being signed, and how it's not guaranteed to happen, when interviewed on FLW Friday. IF that's the case the Brian might be sitting there thinking that if we don't go up, then there's still quite a high chance that he'll be back to square one this Summer, having to offload players etc.

At Wolves, even if relegated he'll be underpinned by the parachute payments, which would at least mean that he'll be able to build the team that he wants in the Championship and have a proper chance at going straight back up next year. With us, he could be looking at yet another rebuild job come the end of August....

I really can't see McD entertainng the idea. With the run he is on, the potential money he could spend upon promotion and the fact that he would add promotion to his own personal repertoire - and therefore make him more attractive next season if we're doing badly, and someone like Fulham sack their manager and he's already proven in the prem - there is just simply no way the man would leave. He'd be looking at the long game,

I could imagine he has the claus, and like everyone in the world, you want to go through all options available to you.

Football management is just a job, and if someone can trebble your wage overnight, and perhaps put a claus in your contract saying you won't be sacked if you're relegated, you'll just have to get promotion the next season, then you would want to know all you can and weigh up your odds, or at least use it as a bargaining chip for your own benefit.

Which reminds me, I need to ask my boss for a payrise as I'm getting a lot of calls recently trying to poach me on salaries with an extra £10k...

Paul that does not make sense. A team struggling year on year to stay in the premier league v a team in and around the playoffs is not comparable. Regressive v progressive on minimal budget. The only factor that adds spice is working wonders within a budget constraint. Perhaps, just perhaps Curbishly saw something in the deal that was not easy to swallow.
People going as far as calling McDermott a judas is a tad galling. When he came in most thought WTF and he proved us wrong. Coppell is a no no personally. Good memories and all that but no thanks. I certainly to not see McCarthy fitting the mould as he is too bullish and has indicated he wants an international managerial position.
I really hope RFC know what the implications are at such an important phase in the season could mean.
The club announce the early incentive of the ST with the Prem as a carrot and we enter back into a period of uncertainty.
Fingers crossed this thread stays in rumours and doesnt migrate back over to The Team .

It is going to come down to security IMO, Mcderm felt completely comfortable under the ownership of JM hence the 1 year rolling but now i think with new russian revolution he may not know where he stands long term and thus wants some security and stability.

Give him what he wants (and deserves) and let's get on with promotion push this season

Sky Sports understands Wolves have asked Brighton permission to speak to their manager Gus Poyet.

The Molineux club are currently on the lookout for a new man at the helm following Mick McCarthy's sacking last week after five-and-a-half years in charge.

The Premier League side held talks with Neil Warnock last week, although the ex-QPR boss has now been named as Leeds' new manager.

Wolves wish to speak to the Uruguayan tactician, who guided the Seagulls to promotion from League One last season.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder has been in charge at Brighton since November 2009 having previously worked under Juande Ramos at Tottenham and Dennis Wise with both Leeds and Swindon Town.

Wimb Sir Steve is available and would be the right man for the job again.

There are very few events that would see me elect not to renew my season ticket but this would certainly suffice.

Fortunately, there's more chance of hell freezing over than our new owner engaging someone who dumped us where we are whilst leaving millions of his budget unspent.

So the main who led us to 4 of our top 5 finishes in our history is a bad pick for the job? :|

I like my job but occasionally I speak to competitors to see what they can offer and assess if I am being paid the market rate. This then assists me in any negotiations with my current employer re: pay rises and bonuses.

Nothing wrong with him speaking to them...especially with a new boss in town.

To those who live in the now rather than the past (or, up a certain backside :| ) it's obvious he would be a disaster just as he was at BC and his final season here.
