That Friday Feeling
Wycombe Royal
premiership_bound Matthew Taylor is on his way from Portsmouth with Bolton and Sunderland leading the race to sign the out of favour midfielder. (The Mirror)

Sorry just realised the source

Portsomouth fans say he is joining Sunderland today for £4.1m and that is why he was left out of the squad yesterday.

Have Portsmouth signed a replacement yet?

No, but with all the players they had missing and they still didn't select him suggests to me that he isn't required.

Not suggesting he isn't surplus to requirements but Harry's always said no-one leaves until he bolsters the squad.

Because of the AC of N any deal will be right at the end of the transfer window. I think there will be a lot of transfer activity at the very last minute.

Exactly what SC has been saying. Also with the games we have don't think its too much of a worry not to be signing players until late on in the months esp. if they're players like Matthew Taylor who are established to some degree at this level.

Wouldn't you want new signings to have trained with the rest of the squad well before the 2nd Feb?

Coppell says the same thing every transfer window.

We still don't sign anyone though.

You miss the point - if no one is prepared to sell - we cannot buy. Reading are not prepared to sell either at the moment so we are part of the problem. No club will sell until they know a/ where they are in the league b/ what everyone else is doing and c/ whether they have injuries between now and 31st Jan.

Personally I think it is 50/50 whether there are significant moves or not this window.

And as a result relegation looms closer.

We don't need anyone else, we got Matejovsky already - and he may actually get to play a game for us this season - plus Alan Bennet is back from Southampton.

Matey maybe, but Bennett up against Rooney and Anelka in the next two Prem games? Methinks not.

What do you suggest then - why don't we abduct opposition managers and hold them to ransom until they agree to sell us their best players.

We can only sign players that are available!!

Let's face it if SC buys a Championship player or an unknown foreigner - he gets slated and if he buys someone from a PL club he will get slated because they were not wanted by their existing club so are obviously no good.

I can see what he opts to buy do few players as he clearly cannot win with the average fan.

Worringly that's clearly Coppell's attidude as well.

Shame we don't have a single right winger in the squad or even one truly Premiership quality centre half.

But it's alright we've got Bennett and Sodje.

Saw Harry outside the ground tonight. Fingers crossed he'll take pity and do some business.

I heard today from a 'source close to the club' that Matthew Taylor has indeed already had a medical for the Royals last Tuesday. The salary offer is thought to be in the region of £30,000 pw.

Doesn't guarantee his imminent arrival, I know, but for me, signals intention and I look forward to confirmation towards the end of the month!
