I also think he's probably in the mindset and comfort zone of being used to playing with better players now.

He doesn't get to play with them that often though,

BraisingsteakRoyal He'd never come back all the time we're threatened with relegation. He's probably on 30k+ a week plus appearance fees, and if he stays at Fulham and runs his contract down at least he's in the Premier League shop window. He could be back in anonimity of the Championship within 5 months of joining us.

could be a loan move?

Fulham, imo, wouldn't want to lose him really. Bit of strength in depth, and a goal and an assist in the last two games?

Who Moved The Goalposts?
Terminal Boardom Sidwell and Harper were the best CM partnership this club has ever had. Both could do box to box, weighed in with valuable goals and were simply the best. Just how good can be seen by how Harper's form dropped after Sidders left. I would have Sidders back yesterday.

/\ Good post. For all those who thought Sidwell was overrated, take a quick look back at the highlights DVD during our first season in the prem, where he features heavily with both goals and assists. This club has never adequately replaced him - in fact, Sdiwell is surely one of standout representations of everything this club is about.

Sidwell did the hard work and was direct offering a threat through the middle, Harper did the simple ball retention, dictated play and hassled to slow down attacks so someone else could break them up. And could sneak in with a goal every now and then. Perfect combination of defence, attack and possesion for a mid-table PL team.

What we'd give for that combination now!

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be eh?

Come on. Sidwell's (and Harper's) best was 6 years ago. Relevence today please?

He's injury prone, not a great Fulham favourite and just because he finds himself (like everybody else it seems) in acres of space to lay in a simple ball to Berbatov, all of a sudden he is our saviour?!

Good grief. The Reading Way. One step forward, two steps back.

Never gonna happen.

Besides you'd better ask 'Lunnen' WAG Khrystal what she wants

Still in his prime, still playing in the PL. I suppose you thinking bringing Shorey back was a disaster.

Not only that but Sidders committed more fouls than any other player in the Prem in 06/07. A very clever player.

Shorey was out of contract so would accept the Reading wage structure to play in the prem.

Sidwell would cost at least a few million and would want at least the same wages he's on now but as others have also said, would probably want additional financial incentives to take a step down in the league.

Plus, he's not Russian so can't be on our shopping list...

agreed

all of them innoucuous, "accidental" collisions/clips if the heels that stopped a player going past him into dangerous positions when we were stretched, for which he was rarely yellow carded

Unlikely. He has had more minutes on the pitch for Fulham this season than any other midfielder in their squad. I'd be very surprised if Jol was to let him go.

A player at the wrong end of his recent injury prone career, still near to London to appease his wife, collecting a stupid panic multi year salary from Reading? Yep. Can see that being "just the sort of player we need etc blah blah blah".........

Started for Fulham tonight and has scored. Looking more unlikely I'm afraid.
