BKRoyale
Albert Spangler So basically, his dad's called Finnbogi?

So what happens if he himself has a son? I'm sure I could look this up, but maybe the brains of HNA could tell me instead?

His son would be <first name> Alfredsson.

probably makes sense to them, so probably not?

I do love the way they name their young though.

Can you name your kids first name after yours I wonder? Gylfi Gylfisson. What a legend that kid would be. Or maybe Gylfi should call his son Brynjar Gylfisson. Instant Reading legend.

What happens to the females?

Hi son would have the surname Alfredson I believe (and whatever first name they choose to give him).

Upper West Ginger One of the splendidly mad things about Iceland is that you can only choose your child's name from the official names register

Not correct. You can just pay 3000 Kroner (£15) and apply for a name outside the list and a committee checks it to be sure it is not an unsuitable name.

Holy shit. Why do they do this? It's cool and all, and they have a great naming system, but why this?

But don't they then add the name to the list of approved names?

As for why they do it, this article is worth a read:

im sure it makes sense, but purely in terms of having no family name that you can track MUST make it more difficult, purely in terms of family trees

i still think we should go in for this lad. 24, excellent scoring record in the erdivisie full of potential and could more than likely be a strong striker for the premier league. he already has 3 goals in 2 games this season too!

Fantastic scoring record.

However, Augsburg recently had a bid of £4.5m turned down so he is going to be out of our price range...
