The below players MUST go if there is an opportunity to get rid of them (whether it be on loan for experience or for good).

The Pog - As mentioned by many, the wages are just a joke. Works hard and probably doesn't get as much credit for his work rate off the ball but if I was paying that player his weekly wages, where on earth is the return in goals? I'd be expecting at least 15-20 goals a season. No one will want him on those wages and The Pog will not want to leave his London home. This guy will have the easy life for another year.

Taylor - (on loan at least, he is not quite ready yet but I think he will be in a couple of years. Will certainly see him come back up the divisions in the future if he did drop down to a L1 club)

Norwood - He does good things with the ball but I do not think he really has a settled position for him in Clarke's system. Behind the striker yes but besides this there is no regular spot for him.

Kelly - No better than what we already have, doesn't play. Could easily be replaced by someone on half of his wages. Get rid.

Akpan - (at least on loan) - I really like Hope and I think he has a lot to offer to the team although I think for his own good, he needs to be playing first team football at this stage of his career on a regular basis. It may be worth loaning him out to another club for a year and seeing how he does. At the moment however I would say he is behind Williams and Karacan when all players are fully fit

HRK - Just doesn't seem to have the level of consistency he did during our one year in the PL where he was one of our best players if not the best. Should maybe have offloaded when Cardiff started sniffing about a couple of years ago. On his day don't get me wrong a very good player for us to have but it has been a while since he has performed.

Blackman - Whilst he scores great goals for us every now and then, I feel with the strikers coming through (in particular Samuel) he will no longer be needed. Certainly can't see him being a regular starter anytime soon.

Obvious departures:
Knight
Ferdinand
Yakubu
Travner

Youth players I'd like to see given a chance during pre season:
Samuel
Tanner
Kelly

Positions we need to strengthen:
2x left back/left sided players - A new LB to allow Obita to push up to LM and also a back up LB (providing HRK left)
1x Centre back - Experienced reserve competing alongside Pearce/Hector/Cooper for a starting spot.
1x Centre Midfield - A creative midfielder who can play a box to box role so Karacan/Williams/New midfielder/Kelly
1x Right Wing - Mackie is the obvious option, we MUST sign him in summer, I think the 500k fee mentioned is a bargain
1x Striker - If Pog leaves, another striker (I'd hope to see Samuel emerge into the picture next season)

FFP rules will prevent us from signing all of the above but I would hope we look to strengthen the majority of these positions. Hopefully Clarke's connections will help us get a couple of Chelsea/West Brom players on board.

Ian Royal My top priorities to let go would be:
Pogrebnyak, Robson-Kanu, Blackman, Akpan, Gunter, Ferdinand, Kelly, Yakubu & Knight.
Only three of those don't involve payouts and I still don't understand why we even signed two of them in the first place, along with Ferdinand.

The players out of contract are:
Karacan, Pearce, Federici, Andersen, Samuel, Kelly, Mackie, Chalobah, Ake.

We could just about conceivably find ourselves with a squad (barring new signings) of:

GK: Lincoln, Henly, Ward
RB: Gunter, Long
LB: Obita, Griffin
CB: Hector, Keown
CB: Cooper, Ferdinand
MC: Williams, Norwood, Kuhl
MC: Akpan, Tshibola
RW: McCleary, Stacey
LW: Robson-Kanu, Blackman
ST: Pogrebnyak, Novakovich
ST: Cox, Cardwell

That will make a nice langue 1 squad at the end of next season then, the one redeeming part is that at least every player other than pogrebnyak and Williams is probably on under 20k a week so there is probably space within FFP for signings. doe s anyone know if there is anywhere we can find out there wage I could probably speculate. but would be good to work out??

From Despair To Where?
Esteban I'd try to sign Mackie permanently, but Forest may want to keep him, or his transfer fee might eat up too much of our budget.

To reiterate something I said on another thread, Forest are under an FFP transfer embargo. As it stands at the moment, without shifting players out, they can only bring in 2 players and they have to be free transfers.

I know Lascelles and Darlow are going to Newcastle but they need to listen to any sensible offers for their players. I think we have every chance of getting Mackie for something in the region of £500,000.

Perhaps we can offer them HRK, Pog, Fedinand and some other players for a fee of £Nil to help them out

Elm Park Kid
He's just another Jay Tabb. Tries hard, looks busy but ultimately not good enough.

Jay Tabb is definitely good enough for the Championship. I'd be dead chuffed if Kuhl turns out as least as good as him.

FYI:

Position Team Played Goal Difference Points
1 Watford 44 39 85
2 Bournemouth 44 47 84
3 Middlesbrough 44 32 84
4 Norwich 44 38 82
5 Derby 44 32 76
6 Ipswich 44 18 75

He played in 39 of those games.

Release Travener, Knight, S. Kelly, Edwards, Guthrie, Sweeney, Andersen (unless Federici refuses a new deal) and either Moore or Henly, as well as Legg and Gogic.

Most of those should be self-explanatory. I don't think Sweeney has a long term future with the club and would rather see Dickie and Hyam get his opportunities. I don't think we can realistically offer careers to this many senior goalkeepers - keep Ward, Lincoln, and either Moore or Henly as back up to Feds or Andersen. Loan one of the three out, and have the other two alternate between the first team bench and starting for the U21s.

Try to re-sign Federici, Karacan, Pearce, Samuel, and Keown.

Of the second year scholars who don't already have deals (we've secured at least Watson, Cardwell, Ward, Husin, Lawal, Nova, Urbancic (lol), and Collins), I'd be most keen on keeping Sheppard, Waritay and Ethelston. Can't imagine Williams will be retained, and I'm not really fussed either way about Bennett and Jules.

That wouldn't be the Jay Tabb who is a regular starter for a team knocking on the door of promotion to the Premier League, would it?

Yep, the same Jay Tabb who looked one of our better players in the PL* until Mr Adkins got put in charge and couldn't wait to ship him out.

* Admittedly not much to compete against but all the same....

£11m? In our dreams. I'm not sure where you think the £20m of savings is going to come from. That'd require the players we've lost since last season to have averaged about £30k a week in Championship wages.

More than one of this opinion.

Brentford will need one soon. Would suit Mr Clarke, close to Chelsea.
I agree that he is a good, in fact excellent no2. Much like Martin Allen, but, and it's right, wanting to manage, but it isn't for everyone.

Sell McCleary. Pace is overvalued in a winger. I'd rather see an older player on the wind down who can drop the ball where he wants it in the box. No point in blasting past the left back if your cross is hopeless everytime.

There's always one you forget. Although I don't really know where he fits in a 4-4-2. I guess between Cox and Cardwell.

if we just made it through FFP this season, then reducing significantly to 11 mill would give us loads of wriggle room
