This "Gylfi didn't want to go" stuff suggests he was sold against his wishes. That is not my understanding at all.

Gylfi wasn't looking for a move but was happy to go in furtherance of his career to a progressive club with better players and in a progressive league.

If gyfli didn't want to go, all he had to do was refuse personal terms and he was still a Reading player. We can't force a player to sign for someone else.

He may have been happy to stay, but only a total retard turns down the opportunity to play for a team like that. And Gylfi wasn't stupid at all.

Stupid conspiracy theory mongs. 5 players handing in transfer requests if we sell Mills, or Mills followed by Long!? You're living in a dream world.

It's the same with all our players - Mills, Long etc. I haven't seen anything saying that any of them are unhappy here, but of course they want to go somewhere that furthers their careers... not sure whether going to Leicester would help Mills's career though.

Maybe not to the extreme of handing in transfer requests but do you really think the other players are going to be happy with losing quality players like Gylfi, Mills and Long? Sure Jobi and others go on the back page of the Scrote with headlines like "Count me in" and wanting to sign a new deal. However, if you see good players going out the door it's going to make you think twice and question the ambition of the club.

I can see some players asking for assurances that the club are trying to head in the right direction.

Maybe not the greatest of examples but it looks like the house "that jack built" at Arsenal is in danger of fully imploding ..

....With Fabregas and Nasri almost certainly on their way out...now the likes of Van Persie are saying they are unsettled.....can definitely see this happening at Reading if they sell off their best players and either NOT replace or replace with inferior
but "potential" players.....

I would be worried as the likes of Southampton & Leicester are pushing the boat out ...no doubt at least 2 of the 3 coming down will do likewise and others will add to ....if Reading want to stand still even they are going to have to invest in some quality players this season ...BM perfomed miracles last season but he wont be able to do that all the time IMHO

Rodgers desrves credit for the signing of Mills. Good piece of business which will result in the club making a handsome profit should he be sold.

I find it hard to believe they'll really give a flying one when it comes to whether they are happy to stay or not.

What is disappointing is that we are losing good young players. If we sell players who are 27/28 or older its not such a big deal for me but I don't like seeing the younger players leaving.

4 million that won't be invested in the team. Morrison will play next season instead, cheap replacement already signed.

Zurab and griffins performance in the play-off final has doomed us to years of obscurity in this division. Settle down folks.

Then, Ian, you are living in a dream world if you don't understand that ambitious, competitive sportsmen don't want to be associated with anything other than success (or the will and potential to achieve it).
Ask Blackburn. Oops. Double click. Sorry.

If Mills does indeed stay and run down the last year of his contract, there's nothing to say he won't re-sign should we get promoted next year.

Morrison was always signed as the likely replacement. He was a summer transfer target but because other clubs were sniffing he was signed in January.

If Mills wants to leave, have no problem with that. Club will get a good deal for a player with 12 months to run on his contract.

£ million is a great deal. Shame only 200k will be re-invested in the team.

Whilst I totally agree that Mills departure is no great loss, he will be the third centre-half to leave the club this summer. Morrison hasn't kicked a ball in an anger at this level yet. Do we expect the proceeds to be ploughed in to quality replacements for Ivar, Zurab and Mills? Recent history suggests not.

and what is recent history? we spent a million rising to two million on bringing mills here in the first place, and that was on the back of summer sales. we do reinvest when it is right for us to do so, and i'm sure we will again if the right player is available.
