SPECULATION - Erik Huseklepp

by Snowball » 24 Nov 2010 16:49

Not a rumour, just wondering.

Thought this "kid" (he looked about 14) looked like a very good player for Norway in the game v Ireland

Apparently he's played as a winger (looks FAST) and scored a very good goal, started and finished the move.

Reckon he'd make a good striker. He's actually 26 and probably cheap

I think we are o.k. for wingers at the moment so never mind the idea of us signing him and converting him into a striker, why not just buy what we badly need ,a ready-made striker?

I thought we had one of those- the Norwegian wonder-kid. Thorvaldson or something like that. What happened to him?

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

PS the guy may be titled "winger" but he looked like a fast striker to me

This bloke looks pretty fantastic. Though youtube videos of best moments can make even Andy Hughes look Premier League, but it does seem like his overall play is just brilliant, unselfish and selfish when he needs to be, and some amazing goals, the two chipped efforts, superb.

I'd be very happy to see him @ RFC.

Can't help but think that he looks as good as the Sigg, so can we even think about getting him?

He looks pretty darn good, tall, fairly strong, quick feet, awareness and finishing.

The standard of defending & 'keeping isn't obviously woeful like with previous players clips, though it doesn't look of particularly high standard to me. The most promising thing for me other than his athleticism - which can be misleading in youtube clips - was his awareness. His knowing what shot was best to try when. Those two lobs were excellent examples of an intelligent player.

The only reservation I really have, is that if he's 26 what's he doing not having been picked up by a bigger club already if he's that good!?

That Liverpool link seems to be from February and refers to Rafa, so I don't think that's much of an issue. It was obviously a total rumour with even his agent saying they hadn't made contact.

If Ideal or snowball think he's such a good bet, maybe they should email the club... no downside to it.

He genuinely looks to be a possibility and have something a little different to what we laready have. And he'd be another player which would suit a more deck orientated type of play as opposed to the hoof ball we tend to go for a lot now.

Late bloomer, he didn't really get going until he was 23'ish, before that he was just one of those talents that hadn't had any end product yet.

Also he's been played wide

I thought he seemed to be off the radar and maybe cheap but it looks like that's not the case

Norway star Erik Huseklepp issues come and get me plea to Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce

Huseklepp is ready to quit Norwegian football
Blackburn Rovers target Erik Huseklepp admits he is keen to quit Norwegian football for a step up in January.
The 6ft 2in striker has caught the eye with Norway, scoring twice against France in August and following it up with the only goal as his country beat Portugal last month.
Huseklepp has hardly been prolific for struggling Brann this season - scoring seven in 26 league games - but is eyeing a move abroad to give him a new impetus as the campaign in Scandinavia draws to a close.
'It's no secret that I want to move, but it is not something I think about all the time.' said Huseklepp. 'I used to, and I let it affect my performance so I just had to drop it.'
Liverpool, Newcastle, Stoke, Blackpool and Nottingham Forest have all been linked with the 26-year-old, but Blackburn are believed to be showing the most interest.
French club Le Mans had wanted to sign him on loan in January but he insists he that any move should be permanent.
'It was never considered, I don't feel that I am in a position where I need to go on loan,' he said. 'Additionally, it's a poor club and you can only imagine what the options would have been.'
Huseklepp has just one year left on his contract and should be available for about £1.4million.
