Branson

Not sure if I should post it here or not.....

But has anyone else heard the Richard Branson rumours going around again? Normally I'd take them with a pinch of salt, but I heard 2 stewards talking about it behind the North stand. One of them saying it could be a done deal if SJM allows him to rename the stadium. This isn't old regurgitated shit, allegedly its ongoing now.

Inside the stand, a couple of blokes behind me had heard that it could be on again...

The Virgin Challenger. Could be a new half time entertainment to keep bums on seats.

Why on earth would he a) want us and b) want to pay what SJM is asking (or anywhere near it).

This is a man who has made his money by acquiring for the right price.

That'll make it a no then.

Because stewards are always privy to the inner dealings of the boardroom.

how do you know what JMs current asking price is?

as a venture capitalist, i wouldnt want him here anyway tbf,
hed be interested in growing the club, but only so he could take that growth out again in profit some time in the future

I really do hope there is no truth in this.

With the businesses that Branson owns, I can't see RFC being very high up on his priority list.

And I'm the Queen of Sheba.

Branson will never get involved in any football deals after a sponsorhsip deal was agreed between Virgin and Crystal Palace years ago, and he flew the Palalce team Upper Class to New York for a big signing session - during which they got pissed and trashed the plane. He tore up the contract and vowed not to ever have anything to do with football ever again.

Any anyway, why would he? There's no way to make money from ownbing a football club, and he's hardly the person who needs the publicaty that owning a club gives.

Just because it's 2 stewards talking about doesn't mean it isn't the old regurgitated shit - they hardly have a hot-line to the boardroom because they put on yellow jackets.

Never going to happen. Reading will not be bought until were back in the EPL. Plus Madjeski is a oxf*rd and want's ridiculous amount for a club that lets be honest is pretty small!!

richard branson likes to make money, not throw it away in a bottomless pit like a football club. he will never buy any club, let alone this one.

Sorry how do we know this? Are we still banging on about his asking figure when we were in the Premier League... I rather think that may have been revised slightly over the last few years, what with the massive changes in our revenue streams and profile.

I think it was a follow-on from that - upgrading shirt sponsorship into full club sponsorship.
