Transfer-listed defender Sean St Ledger could be a January target for Ipswich.
The Mercury understands that manager Paul Jewell is determined to land St Ledger and shore up a Tractor Boys defence which conceded three goals to shot-shy Nottingham Forest on Monday.
St Ledger was the subject of two bids from Ipswich during his time at Preston before he joined City last summer for an undisclosed fee.
Huddersfield had also been linked with the 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international but Terriers manager Lee Clark said: "It's not a name we have discussed."
St Ledger has been told by Pearson he can look for another club.
He has made 10 league appearances, including two as a substitute, but has not been able to command a regular place.
