Been released by Pompey.
At least one of McCarthy and Andersen need to go out on loan next season. There are rumours that Andersen has said he does not want to wait around as third choice just in case.
If this is true we could do worse than offer Ashdown a season deal. He lives near Pompey so would not have to move. Could be an excellent option all round.

I'd have thought he could pick up a Championship or top end League One club to be first choice at. He's already semi-ruined his career through Prem bench sitting, I'd be surprised if he's money grabbing enough to do it again.

Idiot - obviously I meant from his point of view it woud mean he will not have to relocate.
