SPECULATION - Cuellar and Guzan

Both released by Villa (along with Heskey - but let's not even go there). Cuellar always looked solid to me and can play across the back 4. As good as Pearce and Gorkks have been this season, I'm not convinced they won't be found out in the Prem (ditto Connolly).

Guzan would be good back-up to Feds and allow McCarthy to be loaned out. Would also give us an opportunity to resurrect the USA chant.

Not sure why Guzan would want to leave Villa and then come here to sit on the bench, Cuellar isn't an awful shout for a backup centre back

Carlos Cuellar is absolute class though. Shocking that they released him, if they had a manager he wouldn't have done. He wants too stay in England... so enter newly promoted teams stage right.

Clearly must be on big money not to get a new deal, but hes on 0 now! Can play CB or RB. Bit like Gorkks for me, just oozes composure.

Agreed with all that - have only seen Cuellar play once, (i.e. not on the telly) and that was when Carew scored that hat-trick against us in the FAC in 09/10, thought he was class in that game, would be a good shout.
