RUMOUR - Stewart Downing

by mathematically_safe » 20 Jun 2012 09:04

Another rumour.

No idea of veracity although it has come from a source 'within the club'. And it wasn't big Mike. And i don't do twitter.

Allegedly we're offered £8m but LFC are holding out for £12m. Even if it's rubbish it gives another indication of the level/type of player we're supposedly looking at.

Anyone seen Downing having a Vodka with Nikola Hammondski in the Vlad Stadium Hotel, Kiev?

Whilst it is nice to be linked with these sorts of players, not sure about this one. Not even sure we should go to £8M if true. Liverpool paid too much for him and now want their money back, as stated 0 goals 0 assists last season. As Duncan would say 'I'm out!'

Yeah, I've heard we're bidding for Iniesta. It's rubbish, of course, but it gives another indicication of the level of player we're supposedly looking at.

The presumably wildly inaccurate story of Reading being willing to pay Pog £65k a week will only fuel more and more rumours because if the media believe we will pay that kind of money it broadens the scope of players that would be willing to join us.

Since I don't believe we would pay those sort of wages I can't believe that Downing would be an option as he must be on at least £65k a week.

People sl8 Downing and he was pretty useless last season, but at both Boro and Villa he was very effective.

Norfolk Royal No goals, no assists last season.

He wont come here, but agree another sign of intent, and there's been a few.

He is better suited to a Villa, Newcastle, Everton than a top club. Maybe even a Reading in a season or two.

I think he's really good and would be astonished if we sign a current England International.

Think I heard somewhere he created the most chances in the Prem last season or something with 55, just no one at Liverpool could finish them off. Would be chuffed if we got him providing his wages aren't too high

He's not half as bad as he's been made out to be over the last few months because of a poor season at Liverpool.

Yeah he should've scored a few, but he also can't help the fact that Liverpool missed a massive amount of good chances last season, a fair percentage of which Downing created. He was vey good at Villa and I wouldn't bet against him finding his form under Rodgers next season.

Can't see us pulling this one off.

I like him.

He got no goals and no assists last season because Liverpool are a sore shit of a team.
