Shorey also backed him by re-tweeting it.
They also both signed off with #youllneverbeatjohnmackie which was cool
Come on Brian! Sign him up, proven reading legend who will be hungry to prove himself at this level. If we sign him we will be unplayable, because

The thought of John Mackie knocking Rooney off the ball before launching the ball 50 rows into the old trafford stand is droolworthy.

Pair him alongside Pearce and he'd make him look like Pique!

I've got an image in my head of him playing in a flat cap, shouting 2 for a pound

He was fairly epic in that Chelsea cup game though against Hasselbaink and Shevchenko

Terrible player. I never understood why people took to him to much.

Why are you shocked? He did that before Pardew brought him here, and he went back to it when his career came to end.

The game was December 2003 - Shevchenko hadn't signed for Chelsea. Mackie did ok but I remember him being twisted in and out by Hernan Crespo (who I maintain is one of the very best players I've ever seen live - even if he was against the heroic Mackie)

he did have a little purple patch with us and looked great in that spell. Didnt he look good in league 1 but look out of depth when in champ? or is my memory wrong on the dates..?

Ah cheers BF, didn't think Shevchenko was quite right.

Might be worth dropping by on an away day to London.
