Brum Clearout - Butland Davies, Ambrose, Zigic, Redmond

by bennno » 21 Jan 2013 18:34

1730:TRANSFER LATEST
Birmingham City confirm they are open to offers for any of their first-team players as they battle financial problems. The club, lying 20th in the Championship, are looking to offload a number of players to reduce their wage bill.

Given this effectively amounts to a car boot sale and we all know how Reading likes a bargain, how about we try for

Butland - GK
Davis - CB
Ambrose - CAM
Zigic - FW
Redmond - RW

That would be a quality group of individuals for now or for future development / future push out of the championship

To help Brum we could loan them Andersen GK, Gorks CB, Tabb CM, Church FW, Obita RW.

This makes sense, lets hope Brian bumps in to them all in Nandos or a friends wedding.

Ambrose, Redmond and Davies.

Zit Birmingham supporting friend said that Zigic is awful yet hilarious as he somehow manages to score fairly often

Didn't mention Marlon King for obvious reasons, but he would be useful given that arguably our best lone forward (Roberts) continues to be crocked.

Marlon King is a horrible man but I would sign him as he is very good at holding the ball up. They have said he can go for free as his wages are so high. Curtis Davies too please, we should have signed him in the summer.

Would love Redmond. Reckon he'd be decent in the Premiership already and is only 18(ish)!
Won't bother with Butland because I don't reckon he's considerably better than Feds or McCarthy and there's no point having another reserve keeper.
As for the rest of them, they're all very good championship players but, seeing as we have a reasonable chance of staying up now, I don't think they're really worth having. Ambrose, for example, is a player I've been a fan of for a long time but think he might be past the stage where he can play in the Premier league.

Redmond yes please. Exactly the kind of "we'll wait and see if something comes up" kind of deal.

They'll want a lot more for Redmond than we'd be prepared to pay.

Although having said all this, they're will be clubs bigger and richer than ourselves who will also look to jump on the chance the sign Redmond so we may still struggle to get him.

We know how this will end. Fulham will sign one of them, Villa another, Butland will join a top 8 side as a back up keeper and it will transpire we showed no interest in any of these players whatsoever.

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/ne ... -to-offers

I like the sound of Redmond and Burke
Burke's got a half decent goalscoring record and £300,000 wouldn't break the bank
Redmond would certainly fit the young and hungry profile
