Mickael Partodikromo

by van13 » 27 Jun 2013 21:09

After verbally agreeing to join Sheffield United's academy, 17 year old Mickael Partodikromo has been since persuaded by Reading to join up with their academy. He is due to fly over to England next month after meeting with representatives from the newly relegated Berkshire side and signing a contract earlier this week without the knowledge of the APFA.

Both Andy Smith from APFA and Tony Walmsley from Sheffield United recently gave statements about Partodikromo's move to Yorkshire. Sheffield United are in the process of taking legal advice on whether the verbal agreement with Partodikromo has legan standing and whether compensation is due.

I was going to laugh off the fact they think verbal agreements are legally binding, but they can be IF they can prove it, which of course they wont be able to.

Many people are not aware that verbal agreements are in many cases as legally binding as written contracts. Verbal contracts can be upheld by a court if someone decides to breach the agreement, although without written terms and conditions it may be difficult to prove.

Partodikromo is Javanese for "kick a ball".

Typically only if recorded thus proving it. Otherwise completely un enforceable.
