Gorkss off to Yorkshire?

by SPARTA » 09 Jul 2013 18:09

Hudds fans are convinced he's on his way for about £500k. I'd take that and think that's a good bit of business for our 4th choice centre-back if true.

Agreed. They can have him for that.

3 CB's plus a youngster should be sufficient.

I'd drive him there if I knew where Huddersfield was or if I had a satnav.

Good bit of business for all concerned. Even if he's no longer the player he was when we bought him, he should still be a decent shout for them, especially at £500k. And glad to see him get a move where he can play, because his days seemed numbered here.

It's a shithole up north somewhere.

Even then it's an improvement on Wolverhampton. Don't want players at our club who have played for that horrible golden shower of shite (Devastated Doyle went there especially!)

If we replace him with a cheap Berra, this may be good.

Now I would be happy with that. Although we'd need to ensure he has no more affiliation to the Golden Shower

Have you forgotten how solid he was in our championship winning season?

Have you forgotten that was 2 years ago? He was so far off the pace last season we were cringing. The only person blind to it was McDermott. He then went to Wolves on loan and they absolutely hated him. In fact, they said he made them worse! I think it's time to move on.

Can't we swap him for that striker we were linked with? What's his name? Oh yes, Jordan Rhodes.

Not even Hammond can pull off that sort of deal.

Time to let him go, he was brilliant during the 11-12 season but just couldn't cut it in the Premier League. It happens. Really won't get a look in ahead of Mariappa, Pearce and Morrison.

I'm not convinced that three centre backs would be sufficient. This is probably the position most liable to both injuries and suspensions so I reckon we should have a fourth player who can comfortably play there in the championship. Particularly if Carrico goes as well because he is our only other senior player with experience at centre back. Whilst we have some good young CBs, I don't know that it'd be a good idea to play any of them in the Championship. So yeah, my point is, if he goes we will need to look to bring in a replacement.

The trouble is, what experienced player wants to be 4th choice? I think 3 senior centre backs, a couple of decent young players and a few others that could fill in (Kelly, Leigertwood etc) is fine.

Except for Leigterwood who started his career there, he has played CB for every club he has played for before joining RFC

Wimbledon defender Mikele Leigertwood turned down better money to sign for Palace this week in a £150,000 deal, which Dons manager Stuart Murdoch described as a "steal", writes Joseph O'Shea.
The 21-year-old centre back became Iain Dowie’s first permanent transfer for Palace, when he signed a two-and-half-year contract on Monday.

"He's a player I've been interested in for a long time," Warnock told Sheffield United's official website.
"He's had experience of playing in The Premiership with Crystal Palace and he can play a number of positions.
"He can anchor midfield and has played both full back positions or as a centre half in the top flight.
