He has handed in a transfer request. Yes Please!

West Ham forward Ricardo Vaz Te has handed in a transfer request at Upton Park.

Vaz Te's future at Upton Park has been the subject of speculation this summer with a number of clubs linked with a move for the Portuguese player.

The Hammers are reported to be open to offers for the former Bolton man as they look to trim their squad so that they can bring in more new signings before the close of the transfer window.

Vaz Te, who started his first game of the season in Tuesday's Capital One Cup win over Cheltenham, says that he has been forced to hand in a transfer request as he does not figure in Sam Allardyce's plans.

"In my 10 years as a professional football player I have never submitted a transfer request nor issued a statement," Vaz Te said in a statement released to Sky Sports. "However, I am frustrated at West Ham United Football Club.

"Last season I was asked to change positions for the benefit of the team even though I had just scored 24 goals.

"The main objective was to finish top 10 in the Premier League and I followed my instructions to the best of my ability as the club always comes first. As a result even though I was injured for three months no other player made more assists than me and no other winger scored more goals than me.

"In addition, since I joined this football club on 31st January 2012 no other player has scored more goals than me in all official competitions to date.

"Statistics are evident to all, despite this, it has been made obvious to myself and my representatives that I am not in the manager's plans.

"Therefore it is with a heavy heart that I submit a transfer request and look to join a club where my approach to the game will be appreciated."

He clearly wants to play as a striker and has proven himself in the Champ so it makes perfect sense.

Although Reading never really go for the option that makes perfect sense at the end of a transfer window....

I'd be pretty annoyed if I was Vaz Te and had Carlton Cole played ahead of me last year...

And (as he sort of explained himself) he is a central striker, just got shoved out wide last year. Scored up front on Tuesday FWIW.

I'm not overly fussed by him but I do have to smile at those that immediately go "No thanks" or "We should be aiming higher". We haven't got any money until people are sold; I think Vaz Te is way out of our league currently!

The only way I can realistically see us getting any striker is if we shift Pogrebnyak, and even then we have to hope most of that money is reinvested in the 'team', and we need a few players.

SPARTA if we shift Pogrebnyak

And everyone in football knows he is a donkey and therefore we have no chance of flogging him

JezD I would give my left testicle to have Vaz Te in the team. Get him in and ship Jobi off to Leeds

Shipping the captain away sounds like a great plan.

I think he's a complete cnut. I don't want him anywhere near our team. Didn't say he wouldn't do a job.

He is one of those players who I hate due to being a cocky little shit but would find the cockiness rather amusing were he playing for us.

He'd definitely do a job though and is in no way going to come to us.

We would be lucky to get him. Sure he is cocky, but Nolan is a fuck stick and I would still have him in this team in a heart beat.

Vaz Te is what we need. But there is about 5% chance it would ever happen :(

Know there's quite a bit of antipathy to the idea of Vaz Te. I got to be honest and say I don't know much about him, or what sort of forward he is (e.g. poacher or a little bit more), what I am pretty certain of, is that if you rolled the clock back you would find similar comments to those about Vaz Te being made about Martin Butler and Dave Kitson. I wouldn't let the fact that you don't like him put you off.
