We aren't going to be paying Knight and Yakubu any wages in a couple of weeks, and I would bet neither would have been on anything like what Mills or Beckford would want. Certainly the total cost of employing Mills or Beckford would be massively higher than Yakubu or Knight cost, although value for money may be better.
I'm not convinced either are the sort of player we'll be looking at though and have no enthusiasm for either.

League One, not always cut it in the Championship, Preston going up likely to be in pole position... but wouldn't mind him on a free.

Why not? He will score goals in the Championship and I like that he has a bit of flair to do something special.
