Alfie (I Still love you)

by linkenholtroyal » 16 Jul 2015 09:34

If reports are correct Alfie is now training with the under 21s at Cardiff, am I the only one that would have him back in a heartbeat, I know you should never go back but it seems such a waste that a player of his talent is being wasted. if we are bidding 2 million for Donaldson a 31 year old with pace. Wouldn't it make more sense to offer 1.5 million for Alfie another striker with pace who is 28 that is also a top poacher. I know I will get all the never go backs but it just makes sense to me We know Cardiff don't want him and I don't think it would even cost 2 million. so please Clarke bring back Alfie

ALF wouldn't be a bad signing tbf but I wouldn't go with £1.5m, Cardiff clearly want rid of him so I'd open at 500k and go no higher than £1m.

Does Clarke actually want him? I don't think so, if he did I reckon he would have been quick to work out a transfer considering the availability.

As natural a finisher you'll find, and very much the modern day Jamie Cureton. I'd wave HRK in their faces and try and do a swop. I'd love him back!

Why not? Hit double figures every season with us, was in great form for Bolton towards the end of last season.

Knowing Hammond, it would be a swap and Cardiff would end up paying us £1.5m as well.

I think it's a simple form of mathematics, we could get 1 or 2 good seasons out of Donaldson if he signs, but could get 3 maybe 4 out of Alfie. If swap deal for HRK can we have Morrison back aswell in stead of the 1.5 million. Morrison hector and mcshane would have cb well and truly covered. (It's nice to dream)

A vastly overrated footballer. (Mainly by Reading fans). Totally found out since leaving Reading.

What is it with Reading fans and wanting old players back?

In the last week or so, i've seen comments on here for Alfie, Morrison, Kebe, McAnuff & McCarthy* to return. (Also seen a lot of jokey ones, but at least they are jokes).

Madness.

*The only one i'd be happy with.

I would quite like to see the development of Cooper rather than having Morrison back. While I rated him while he was here (couldn't give a toss about the one finger salute), I think Cooper has great potential and I would hate to see the development pushed back just because of Morrison.

Nah, don't go back.

Unless somehow we can convince them to do a straight swap for HRK.

He always did seem to struggle when starting a game though.....

Off the bench with 30 minutes to play, would back him to score more often than not though.

11 goals in 40 appearances last season. 1 goal every 277 mins.

Pog got 6 goals in 26 games and had a better goal per min ratio last season. (270 mins)

He's not better than what we already have.

Rollerbob has got his head in the sand. Le Fondre would walk into the team we have now and if we could get Sean Morrisson back as well then we would be laughing

Hm... If that were true, I reckon Clarke would've put an offer in already. Can probs get him on the cheap, knows the club well etc etc..

If we were after a bang average championship striker then Alfie could be our man, but the signs are we're aiming a little higher than that.

Now.. back to that sand..

3 in 21 for Cardiff

8 in 17 for Bolton.

That would suggest the problem was Cardiff not Le Fondre and he's a lot better than most of what we've got but let's just see what Clarke has up his sleeve.

Totally obvious not a fit at Cardiff

A goal every 176 minutes at Bolton and his 41 goals for Reading were 1 every 150 minutes

Unless he is carrying an injury (highly unlikely) then he ought to easily be worth 2M+ in today's market

He'd be a very good buy if he was less than 1.1 Million (or a swap for HRK)

The perfect player to have on the bench and coming on at 55-60 minutes, to get the winner.
