Charlie Savage to Wrexham

Wrexham have genuine interest in Charlie Savage according to Wrexham Insider

https://www.thewrexhaminsider.com/trans ... nited-gem/

Guess it depends on the offer as Savage appears to be settled at Reading and his dad, Robbie, has sounded very supportive of the way we've treated his son

We're gonna need to do some player trading - a Sam Smith level offer- i.e. outlandish would be needed for this to happen for me.

Don't United have something like a 50% sell on clause as well?

Given they're not shy in displaying how much money they have, I'd only consider a bid north of £10m.

They're supposedly after Tom Lawrence and are allegedly prepared to offer Tom Cairney £50k a week.

This won’t end well.

You see this is where the FL should be amending P&S rules to allow them to take an interest and monitor club income v expenditure before it gets to be a big issue for some in 3 years time. :?

Whilst I wouldn't blame him at all for going, especially to a Welsh team, it would be a big loss to see him go. He's one of the players I was hoping we could build a squad around for the future.

I too would be keen for him to stay but unfortunately can hear the sound bites already.
"Thank Reading for the opportunity"
"Dad born in Wrexham"
"Closer to home, young boy moved away"
"Would not have left for any other club"

Plus I believe he is good mates with Sam Smith.

Charlie is a cracking player Id love to see form part of the spine of our team for a long time and rise through the divisions with us.

On the other hand, we've already fleeced Wrexham once for Smith and do need to look to make a big sale a year if possible. The problem with it being Savage is we reportedly only get half the fee, so it's got to be minimum of £2m preferably £3m+ and I'm not sure we can get that for him, even from Moneybags Wrexham

From what I’ve heard we’ve valued him at 8 million.

Don't want him to go but it would be difficult for him to turn down. It's all about rinsing Wrexham for as much as we possibly can.

Hope we make sure there is a decent sell on clause + add ons when he wins Bundesliga rookie of the year, the world cup for his country & the ballon d'Or....

Once bitten & all that...

I wouldn't like him to go, especially to Wrexham, but the reality is that a decent offer plus the player expressing a desire to leave, equals losing that player.

However I am sure his dad will counsel him wisely. Next season he will be one of the first names on the team sheet and we could have a very good year. Wrexham may not fare particularly well against seasoned Championship opposition and I think they will be in for a tough time of it, and there's no guarantee he'll be starting every week.

To be perfectly honest, I am so sick of all this Wrexham garbage. Well they have done so much for the town, the club, etc...

GIve me a break, whole thing is cringey as oxf*rd. Nothing personally against Reynolds and MCElhenney mind(Actually love Always Sunny and Deadpool) but its the whole aura if you will when it comes to Wrexham fans that is the issue. Granted, would be the same regardless who they had bought(Welcome to Cambridge if you will haha).

It will not be as easy in the Championship for them as they think it will be. With that being said, if a decent offer comes in for Charlie from them, will be very hard for us and him to turn down; just the reality of it.

4m at least imo or they can piss off.

We shall see what fortitude Couhig and company really have.

I'm not certain I'm building a team around him. He played most of last season through necessity. For me Wing further up the field is the best option, ideally with a mobile defensive midfielder behind him (Craig).

If we can get big money off Wrexham, then great - use it to balance the books and bring in players we can develop and do the same with. Frankly he's going to move on, he's going to be playing Champ and above.
