Away Season Tickets - Allocation of seats

by Royalphil » 30 Oct 2006 10:31

Can STAR please take this forward.... :)

I know this subject has been mentioned before but the seats that were allocated for the ASTs at Portsmouth were the worst views. I was right in the corner, whereas friends of mine, who had purchased tickets normally, were behind the goal.

I know there was no guarantee that ASTs would get the best seats, but on the "first come, first served" rule that is applied by RFC for our own seats (as, I suggest, all other clubs do as well), we should get the better seats.. RFC's excuse of not knowing the seating arrangements at other stadiums is pathetic; anyone can look at a stadium seating plan on the wonderful internet within a couple of minutes...

Come-on, let's have some customer service for loyal customers!!

It's been asked before. Expect the same action to be taken for future games :?

Not an ASTH, I am near a top band when I get tickets. So I got a ticket for Liverpool in the cup basically straight away. Therefore I'm sat in about the third row about ten yards right of the corner flag! What, are they rewarding people with less points here? :?

To make matters worse, by the time the STAR bus got to the ground, after spending most of the day on a bus I did not have enough time for a pint before the game! I was livid!

It looks like AST holders are oxf*rd. Have any AST holders been happy with the tickets they've been sent? I bought Pompey and West Ham tickets on day one to the Royalty point fans and was sat just a few rows from the front, although at least they were central. Any tips on how to get tickets for the top half of the stand?

We have AST and our seats at Portsmouth were back row to left of the goal. We seem to have had pretty good seats for most of the away games.

So where is the logic in the allocation ... unless you're sleeping with someone in the ticket office.

Agreed mine have been excellent so far. However the thought of the TO doing anything in a structured, organised fashion is a big LOL.

at pompie I was just over half way back behind the goal

At Fulham I am about halfway back in block P6 which doesn't look as directly behind the goal as p5 (would have thought those were the "best" seat.

was "disappointed" with my seat at sheffield as I was on the back corner near the corner flag

I guess sometimes I'll get a middle seat and sometimes I won't, it pretty much pot luck

I still never understand why clubs don't just make the away end "unreserved" seating

Because it would cause complete havoc? Unreserved seating only works in big stands with plenty of spare seats.

That would be a nightmare. All fair and well if the allocation doesnt sell out, but not this season.

Its a lottery, I was near the back at Pompey, at the front for West Ham, and got soaked, In the 3rd row at Anfield, so hopefully it won't rain.

why would it be a nightmare? People that get there earliest get the "best seats"

However it would mean those that "want to stand more" can got to the back and those that "want to sit more" can go to the front

Mr Brightside Its a lottery.....

But it doesn't have to be if the TO (sorry Sales Centre... ) got organised.... I suggest M4 Jct 11's comment about "... sleeping with someone in the ticket office." although tongue-in-cheek is quite close to the truth... I am sure if it's for a 'mate' they would sort through and find a decent seat... or am I being far too cynical....

So its STAR's fault the M6 is a car park then?

As for the AST point, I have one and I had one last year, I complained about it after our tickets for Norwich were allocated on the far side behind the goal line and Southampton where we were up in the gods, it was eaily sorted when there were only a few of us but with 700 now you have to allocate from one end to the other as per the home clubs instructions, some Clubs have longer stands so one week you'll be in the middle of a row and another you'll be at the end of one, sometimes they are allocated left to right, others right to left, unfortunately its not as easy to arrange as it was with 50 or so of us last season.

I would just like to make it clear that I am not sleeping with anyone in the ticket office - have you seen them - I might be old but I do have some standards! :)

I suppose now that I've said that the seats were all ok - the next set will be rubbish.
