The pitch looked awful from what you could see in the highlights from the youth game, certainly is struggling to support rugby and football this season. They will certainly need to work some magic to get it ready for Saturday especially if there is anymore heavy rainfall.

It does look like it has less grass on it but it played OK, in fact the ball was more of a problem though why the Coventry player thought booting it into the stand would help is beyond me.

I think they have said in earlier seasons that the Desso system means that it stays flat and runs true even without the grass.

I believe you have to nominate a ground at the beginning of the competition and have heard the groundsman wasn't keen but I think Dolan wanted the lads to play in the Stadium.

Anyway this comes up every winter. Last winter Coppell said the pitch didn't look great but was flat so he didn't mind. The good thing about the synthetic fibres is that the pitch doesn't divot.

It does look like it has less grass on it but it played OK, in fact the ball was more of a problem though why the Coventry player thought booting it into the stand would help is beyond me.

I did notice at the Derby game that although the pitch looked green from the stands, when on it after the game the grass was very thin, but as you say the surface was perfectly flat despite us lot tramping all over it.
