Perhaps he should have said Africans instead.

Sonko's pretty much French. Born in Senegal, but moved to France when he was six months old. In most people's book that makes him French. He can still play for the France national side (although may not be good enough!).

Sonko may have grown up in France, but he still is Senegalese.
And what about guys like Bikey? He's from Cameroon, but to lump him in the French bracket just because he can speak French is a bit disrespectful.

Yorkshire Royal Actually the Welsh speak Welsh... I think you find that they have 2 official languages..
