alad Arsene Wenger went on record saying that he would have signed him but he couldn't afford him.

Is this about Ashley Young? If it is, then the real reason is obvious and that "couldn't afford him" is an excuse to cover the fact that he'd rather not have an Englishman if he could help it.

It was about Rooney as I replying to Ideal.

I guess the same thing applies! ;)

Out of interest, what country does Walcott come from?

I did say "If he could help it".

Right so Wenger wouldn't have Rooney in his team because he is English so goes and gets Walcott instead?!

Ideal
Huntley & Palmer Bored of your constant moanings about Scandanvian players not being recognised as 'world class' players by the general HNA populace.

Are you retarded?
Constant moaning? When is the last time?
Morten Gamst Pedersen, when he joined Blackburn?
THAT IS BEGINNING TO BE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO NOW!

But apparantly, that is constant moaning in your book.
oxf*rd!

 What a tool!

Ideal
Also you list the managers that have put him in their teams, what about the managers that have the money to buy him, but havn't - Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho, Ranieri, Moyes, Strachan, Ancelotti, Lippi, Magath, Hitzfeld, Rijkaard to name but a few.

Well that's just ridiculous and plain stupid.
You'll find there is a HUGE ammount of managers that have never signed Rooney as well..

Its not that ridiculous, Carew has been within the spending limits of most the top clubs in Europe and given the amount of times he has moved club you can't argue he has been unavailable. Rooney is out of the price range of nearly every club in Europe and is playing for the biggest club in Europe. If you offered Carew in his prime or Rooney as he is at the moment there isn't a manager in the world who would choose Carew.

In summary, Carew has been available and not too expensive yet there has been no bidding war between the top clubs for him.

I recall Ideal calling Rooney crap the other month, now he is saying Carew is world class.

The Rooney transfer was three years ago. The Walcott transfer was last year. I don't think he was interested in Rooney at the time he was available. When Walcott was "available", he was under pressure to buy.

Carew was excellent today, didn't see his first match though. He is a great target man, not a true goalscorer although he had a nice finish today. Ashley Young is overpaid but he was very good today. It helps that he's now on a team that doesn't just hoof it upfield all match, not that Villa are immensely talented or anything but the different style should help.

My mistake, it was Beckham you said was a 'total waste of space' Someone who has achieved alot more than Rooney or Carew ever will.

Interesting thread to dig up, Young's been immense at times this season and his 2nd goal against the Blues Sunday was a great strike.
