Would be interesting to see the 94 team playing against Premiership opposition.

It would have been a record breaking season ...

Oddly, when I look at the players, I think "I liked Lovell, put him ahead of Lita" when Lita probably is such a better player.

I think issues come in terms of fitness, Lita and Doyle are probably far faster than their counterparts. Gooding, at whatever age he was, could still hold a midfield together - something a similar player could not do now.

Oh my days. I'd forgotten how good the 2nd and 3rd goals were, particularly the 2nd.

Fantastic.

RoyalBlue Poor Simon Osborn. Renowned as a great player yet few can spell his name correctly!

No-one does, it would seem so!!!

I'd put Osborn and Sidwell in the middle together.

What a partnership that would have been

lightning strikes no question, osborn was class - far, far better than sidwell. osborn's passing was gorgeous, i've not seen anyone else spray a 30 yard ball with the outside of their boot, putting spin on it so that when bounced, it angled into the path of the on-rushing winger - amazing!!!

That and the perfect lobs, best player ever.

Totally agree with this. Super Simon was outstanding in that season.

I didn't go to many games that season and I was too young to remember it well. Considering that team just missed out on the Premiership and this team is not only in the Premiership but pushing for the European places, I'd have to go with the current team. As I didn't see much of 94/95 team I'm not sure if that's a fair judgement though.

I was a big fan of Osborn too but did you ever see our very own Kevin Dillon in his playing days? He was right up there in terms of long range passing. Hoddle would make up my top three.

Forbury Lion
Behindu I think Marcus v Hahnemann is too close to call myself.
Agreed, Both evenly matched what with being the same person and all.

I obviously meant Shaka and Neil !!

That 1st leg was IMHO the best performance I had ever seen from a Reading side.

Like some of the posters here, I think Oz in his prime would be a great asset. As for the rest, Dariusz maybe despite his lack of pace, but boy, could he pass the ball! Probably Shaka instead of Marcus; no discernible weaknesseses except maybe crosses.

It had to be the perfect football day.

Away fans totally taking over the local pub (in a friendly manner and with no hassles from the landlord of locals)

Great atmosphere in the ground

Great performance from the team

Best bacon sarnies around served from the refreshment kiosk in the away end

All it needed was for Tranmere to refund our entrance money on the way out on the basis that they were priviledged to host us and didn't think it right we had to pay.

Can anyone stick up a video on youtube of some of the goals from that season? - there were many amazing ones - mostly scored by Osborn. Lovell and Nogan at the end of the season were quite a partnership!

Oh and just saw the goals from the Simod Cup for the first time - Gilksey was absolutely amazing at that time - can't believe no one has him in their team ahead of Convey!

The only reason I've kept our video player is so I can watch 'Record Breaking Royals'. Some outstanding goals; Osbourne (sic) at Charlton and at Oldham, Taylor and Paul 'Baresi' Holsgrove score some right corkers. Mr Kerr's at home to Stoke. Lovely stuff.

I was there that day in the Tranmere fans - what a brilliant day! At the time was 15 and remember being really quiet every time we scored as was well afraid some wirral nut would batter me!

That Nogan goal was wonderful!

Where you there with any friends that day?

Just I was in the home end and also 15...

I think I may have that video at home actually (I'm at uni at the moment). Will try to find it and stick it on when I return - can't wait. I really loved that team - perhaps more than I love the current one - mainly I think cos I was but a wee bairn at the time.

Yeah I was. I used to live in Lancaster and we used to go to all the games up there. Went to Wolves away, Oldham, Sheff United, Tranmere, Burnley, Stoke, Bolton. What a great season - apart from the finale of course...

And you also went to Ewood park once or twice?

Those were the days!
