REF...HOWARD WEBB (South Yorkshire)
Asst 1..T Massey (red+yellow flag)
Asst 2..G Turner (yellow flag)
4th official..E Ilderton
PGMO J Worrall

Nice Mr Webb officiated our double over Man City this term so full marks there! He didnt book one Reading player in either match.Makes up for a pretty grim record when Webbs officiated us in the past .33% of hobnobbers wanted to have his babies following the fine 2 nil win at Man city. http://www.royals.org/matdoc/030207.html
He is a good communicator with players, appears to enjoy his work and only brandishes cards on a needs must basis rather than because he can.For me definately one of the better refs about the place.

Webb is currently in 4th place in the rate the ref league (based on fan assessments of his performances).

Though he had a shocker at the Walkers when Leicester played Derby the other week.

And I'll still never forgive him for that Walsall game. Only Clive Wilkes and George Cain have ever made me angrier at Reading game.

Personally I think Webb is one of the better refs out there but at times today he seemed quite frankly a wet homer. He was quick to book Shorey without a warning but was excessively tolerant to some serious persistant fouling by a number of the Bolton players.
At least he gave the pen albeit a nailed on one.Poor show overall by Webb on this one.

And yet, on this day at least, instant karma picked up where he left off.

I could not understand what the Bolton faithful were moaning about. Clearly 50:50 went their way!

Honestly can anyone advise me what their problem was?

Don't kow about 50:50s going their way, it was more like 30:70s with the exception of Duberry's challenge on Nolan which, from where I was standing, looked nothing more than a full blooded challenge between two committed players. That's precisely the attitude the Bolton fans would have had had it been Nolan on Duberry, along with mutterings about it being a man's game and being tough shit if we didn't like a physical contest.

Webb is a decent ref but was pretty appalling yesterday. Still, as a firm believer in karma, justice was done and it all worked out fine and dandy in the end. Live by the sword, die by the sword, you bitter litle tosswits, stop moaning just because it didn't go your way for once. Clearly being subjected to that shit for the past 6 odd years, they have no idea what a real game of football looks like.
