People are forgetting one person is all this - Ingimarsson. Without doubt our number one centre back and twice the player Sonko is IMO.

Difficult to proove a negative but the Sonks/Ingi partnership has been the best Royals central defensive duo ive seen in 40+ years.Ingi`s other partners have done a job but none really has radiated the same authority and strength of the big man.
I agree with Katie that Ingi`s contribution has been nothing short of fantastic given the changes of personnel around him and whilst there have been some excellent performances by individuals the Iceman should be nailed on to get player of the year.

I agree completely Higher - Sonko is the most secure Centre Back alongside Ingi. But this is due to playing together for a long time. Personally I think Bikey is the next best and then Duberry. We do have a good selection of centre backs though!

Sonko is our best defender and if he had played the rest of the season, would have been player of the season.

Definitely missed. The defence hasn't been the same. However, if I had to pick one of the two centre backs to miss a large part of the season then it would have been Sonks. Ingi is even more valuable and is at last getting the recognition he deserves as a footballer.

We've missed all the starting guys when they have missed parts of the season - Murty, Little, Convoy, Kitson etc. The strongest players are the same as last season which is something of a concern. There hasn't been one signing who has managed to displace a regular for some time. There is potential - Bikey, Halford, Seol (possibly) but I think we need some finished products even if it's just one or two.

Or a real plus as it shows how clever Coppell was in building his Championship team...
He essentially produced a side of youngish players who all developed well enough to make the leap en masse to the Prem. He could then add depth to the squad last summer but didn;t need to try and add the quality needed by most teams to survive....

What a fickle lot...Sonko played fabulously before his injury. In fact, I would have rated him our best player up to that time. I dare say I'm not alone. Of course we miss him. How can we forget how much we praised him at the start?
