Vision Steve Death served the club for many years.

He holds a clean sheet record that still stands to this day.

He was the first keeper i ever saw from behind the goal at the Tilehurst End when i was a kid.

No contest for me. Steve Death , Reading's alltime No1

When we conceded the goal at Rochdale, little did we know that we were watching the last goal we'd concede in the league until Stewart Henderson scored for Brentford the following season (pity we had to lose the run to an own goal).

I saw every one of those minutes, and my vote goes to Deathy.

Might want to include Alan Judge in the list, though.

Nearly forgot - Trevor Senior. Saw him play in goal three times and never conceded.

I've been thinking about whether the likes of Trevor Senior, Jimmy Quinn and Adrian Williams should even be nominated. This is a specialised position and the emergency keepers have only played a few minutes in their careers. So I'm afraid, I think the emergency keepers will have to be disqualified.

There must be a keeper pre-70's to nominate, surely? Any of the older posters willing to nominate a different keeper? What about the keeper of the 1927 era?

What about Arthur Wilkie in the sixties ? Don't remember him playing but read about the day he got injured and ended up playing outfield.

I can't believe there is no mention for Nicky Hammond, if only for his performance in the 1-1 FA Cup tie with Cardiff.

So far we have nominations for:

Shaka Hislop
Marcus Hahnemann

Scott Howie
Adam Federici
Phil Whitehead
Nicky Hammond
Jamie Ashdown
Tommy Wright
Steve Sutton
Chris Woods
Steve Francis
Jim Leighton

5. Whitehead
6. Westwood
7. Judge?
8. Wright or Leighton?

What do you reckon on that list?

perhaps when u post the polls u could do a really short overview of each one's contributions, for posters not old enough to remember or not even born!
