Sorry to hear of your plight, I am genuinely wondering though whether in your opinion you still would have gone i.e was it worth it seeing RFC beat LFC?

SymonsO I drive/drove a classic mini, and it was broken into...

It seemed a fairly professional job as all the dials were removed quite carefully as they are worth a bit etc.

Could it be a danger to park a noticeable car in the same place each week? Do the thieves know you will be there?

SymonsO I said it at the second it happened,

If you'd have offered me a car smashed to pieces coupled with a 3-1 win over Liverpool I'd have taken it!

(P.S - if the pikey thief reads this, in no way does it make it OK)
Should've bunged the "travellers" squatting near the roundabout a tenner to look after it.

Easy access and egress......and no chance of getting a parking ticket

If it wasn't so ironic, it would be true (or vica versa)

I do sympathise but in all fairness, with Scousers and Gyppos around, how can you possibly tell who did it?

SymonsO I am pretty sure this is in the wrong place, but if a moderator could move it that would be good, to somewhere that has a bit of coverage though would be a bonus..

I park on the outskirts of Green Park, near Pingewood, I know this is becoming a popular place to park. I would just like to let people know to be careful, I drive/drove a classic mini, and it was broken into during the liverpool game - funny there were liverpudlians about ;)

It seemed a fairly professional job as all the dials were removed quite carefully as they are worth a bit etc. I did notice 2/3 other cars had been victims of smash and grabs.

So please I implore you to think twice before parking there, its fairly remote and a gold mine for thieves.

Again, I apologise if this post is in the wrong place, but I thought it best it got a bit of coverage before being moved to "general" etc.

Thanks. Just started parking there myself after the double yellow lines have appeared in Gillette Way. To be fair there was always broken glass there too.

Of course the wonderful employees of Reading Borough Council are far too busy raising revenue by ticketing cars to keep a look out for lowlife breaking into them. As for TVP, heaven forbid that they should bother to patrol areas where crime is most likely to happen! Wouldn't do to actually catch a few criminals would it!!

A letter to your MP complaining about the lack of pro-active anti-theft policing around the area on match days will normally cause a reasonable degree of inconvenience for the officer in charge as she/he has to spend some time thinking up some excuses in response!

Cars are always getting broken into whilst the football is on. Acre road and the surrounding areas are easy targets for theives. You've got to be mad to park anywhere around there.

And TVP and RBC are equally mad not to patrol that area and catch a few of the toe rags that are doing it. Would it really be that difficult or expensive to have a couple of tatty vans parked around those areas with a couple of TVP's finest hidden inside ready to apprehend the barstewards when they break into a nearby car?
