Why would he go?

He's playing week in, week out, the fans love him, he's playing great football at a team who are building to try and become an established premiership team.....

I don't see what Sunderland could possibly have to offer above that, unless he is desperate to work with Keane......

Unless he's been told by Coppell we're bringing in Taylor, and he's going to have competition...... Even then, I couldn't see him just giving in and going.

I'd rate him at about £1.5m

But I'd expect a lot more to sell him to a relegation rival. Maybe £3-4M

Can't see what he gains by going, he knows where he is in the pecking order here. About on a par with Convey, he knows even if he's not starting he'll get minutes and we're in a slightly better position that Sunderland security wise.

The only reason to go would be promises (and thats all they would be) of a guaranteed starting place and bigger money.

Money talks Sunderland could offer him 40k a week as they are Kieren Richardson and Chopra. But why he would want to join a club playing in the championship next season is beyond me.

It doesn't matter how much Sunderland offer him. It's RFC they need to persuade. In my view, Hunt would be a perfect candidate fro the Sidwell approach. We simply couldn't gain enough by selling him. As somebody pointed out recently, 2.5 mil doesn't buy you much.

Sunderland being linked with Hunt and Doyle!

Sounds like Sunderland are trying to unsettle our players before the game on Saturday

Well unless they're hoping that Hunt & Doyle will still be rolling around on the pitch with laughter, then theres little chance of that happening..

And also LOL at Sunderland taking Anelka...

Why do people assume that paddies just want to congregate round each other? Irish connection indeed.

They are the same people that think Marcus and Bobby must be best mates as they are both American. Despite the distance of the two towns they are from being about the same as London to Madrid!

If we accepted less than £5M for Hunt and he was not offered £40K plus a week there is no chance of this happening.

Why would we sell one of our most effective players and why on earth would he want to go to a side in considerable risk of relegation - certainly much greater risk than of Reading ging down.

because we're using the money to fund a replacement who's better, is the only possible answer.

Our current track record of finding "better" players is hardly great. Much rather keep our effective players like Hunt and Shorey unless they really want to go.

Me too, but with Taylor alledgedly a done deal it makes a little more sense.

The whole year inn Why?

Irish connection with Roy Keane.

Will up his wages by a fair whack.

Not totally unthinkable

Irish connection? Roy keane and steve hunt have never played in the same team.
Good as saying steve coppell has an english connection so we will be signing giles barnes.

Few reasons why he won't be going.

* We won't sell.
* Sunderland have a lot more chance of being relegated which will put him off.
* No foundation to say they'd offer a lot more in wages

You'd have the prise Coppell's cold dead hands from round Hunty's neck before this ever happened.

Even if we are prepared to sell it wont be to Sunderland - not when they are a potential relegation rival!
