cmonurz Told he can leave Spurs by Ramos, and unlikely to go to any of the big four, or Everton, who have plenty up front. A return to West Ham perhaps? Or Reading? Why not? Instinctive goal-scorer, quick – I think Defoe could be just the sort of partner to thrive off of Kitson, who is a Berbatov with work-rate.
Thoughts, nobbers?

Alan Partridge It's this sort of attitude throughout the club and it's fans that will always make Reading a very small fish.

We are though, and that wont change for some time yet!
We wouldn't offer Sidwell £25k a week, how are we supposed to tempt one of the better strikers in the Premiership to join us?

with money. No saying neccesarily about Defoe, I'd agree with other people that striker at this moment isn't a priority, that could change when and if Lita goes but right now it's not. But if Reading want to go to this 'Next level' that our chief executive talks about in every interview then Reading need to start behaving like a Premiership club.

Row Z Royal If we signed Jermain Defoe I would be cock-a-hoop.

cmonurz I take my mocking. Fair enough. When I posted it I was thinking with him out of favour we might we able to get him for £5-6m. Certainly worth it to me as an England international with an excellent career goal-scoring record.
I guess I figured that we might be on the 'fringes' of those mid-table clubs who might interest players like Defoe who are basically told their future lies elsewhere.
Our location is a plus too - Bournemouth, West Ham, Spurs. Will he really up sticks to Everton, Newcastle or Villa. Add to that, as above, Everton and I think Newcastle too, are fine for attacking options.
'twas just a thought, anyhoo.
