Alan Partridge
Wycombe Royal
Alan Partridge Can you see a relegation rival of ours selling us one of their best, if not their best player to us?

Nah me neither.

So you complain about our transfer policy/dealings, etc on one thread and then when there is a rumour about a player who could really make difference, who has vast Premiership experience, etc you shoot the rumour down saying there is no way they would sell him to us basically implying implying that the club shouldn't bother trying.

You can't have it both ways.

Of course i didn't say any of that but there we go.

Where have i implied Heskey wouldn't be a good signing?

Where have i implied Reading shouldn't bother trying?

All I did say was i can't see Wigan selling him to a relegation rival.

So you didn't criticise RFC's transfer dealings?
Where did I say that you didn't think Heskey would be a good signing?

I'm just trying to get some debate going, so cut me some slack and play ball.

Alan Partridge Can you see a relegation rival of ours selling us one of their best, if not their best player to us?

Nah me neither.

I hope this logic applies to Hunt as well.

Of course, I'm sure Coppell has the same logic. Why would i sell one of my best players to a team at the bottom?

Had that been Everton bidding silly money for Hunt, we would have had a much tougher job saying no in all likeliness.

I'll play along WR, for the sheer reason it gives me yet another chance to muck this quote thing up!

Ultimately this is just PuLOLf bored at work. :)

Criticise Reading's transfer dealing - absolutely.

Errrr did i imply that you'd implied that i'd not think he'd be a good signing? I'm not sure now. :?

I am giving you plenty of opportunity for you to learn how to quote properly and still you stuff it up.

Must try harder.

But "You heard it hear first" implies that we'll hear it second somewhere else. Has anyone received a text from the club?

Of course, 'You heard it hear first' could equally well mean ' You're unlikely to hear it anywhere else'

I think some of you set too much of a stall to "not selling to a competitor".
Sometimes this happens at the top end of the table but not always(Gallas and Diarra from Chelsea to Arsenal for example or Ince from Man Utd to Liverpool) so to think that a club would refuse to transfer to a so-called relegation rival if the money were right has been rather overstated IMHO.
By the same logic would two teams vying for a European spot refuse to do business with each other (Say Villa and West Ham)?
Money often talks but in our case it doesn't as we could have taken the loot from Sunderland when (time will tell if rightly or wrongly)the player probably isn't worth(in the open market)what Sunderland were prepared to pay.
As for Emile I wouldn't mind seeing him at our club as a different type of option up front but if we were to take anybody from Wigan I would prefer it to be Scharner.

Its not on the OS now

In a shock move Reading have today not swapped Leroy Lita for Wigan striker Emile Heskey

Steve Coppell said,"Its an opportunity that didn't present itself at all an so I felt it was something I just couldn't turn down".

Emile will not be taking squad number 8.

He could've been playing for Reading for the last 3 seasons and we'd still get on the 31st Jan 08; BREAKING NEWS **Heskey to Reading in Swap deal shocker dated 31st Jan 05**

I'd just like to point out that I predicted this on p8 of the TSI thread.

Ups and Downs
Zammo This is the end of our club as we know it. All those years of support will mean nothing now. Let's remember the good times.....Branfoot, Senior, Gilkes, Simod Cup, Jimmy Quinn, Madejski Stadium, Phil Parkinson, Jamie Cureton, Steve Coppell, promotion, Premier League, James Harper vs Liverpool...erm......Alex Pearce. I love you RFC

F*ck those c*nts! Bring on Torres, Kaka, Ronaldo, John Terry and Emile Heskey.
