cmonurz It has often been posted that the 'doom-mongers' would be posting 'I told you so' in the event that we are relegated. How deliciously ironic then that we are getting the same now after ONE win. Yes, we won, yes, it is a great result, but if we start to take points for granted like '2 world wars, 1 world cup' has been for some time now, then it won't take long for things to start looking pants again.

Man City and Liverpool in our next two - a point from those two would normally be a good result, but we desperately need 3.

Only one win? Posts like this qualify a rather delicious "I told you so". Thanks.

Given themselves a great chance now. There are enough winnable games between now and May to make sure of another season of Premiership football. It is absolutely no coincidence that since Coppell ditched the old guard (some by choice, some forced upon) that Reading have not only won 3 out of 4 but they have generally tightened up defensively and also are playing 100times better than before the Middlesbrough match. Reading lacked pace, they lacked a freshness that Rosenior, Bikey and Matejovsky have provided in abundance.

Still work to be done but Reading have responded tremendously well in the last month. Still needs to be a clear out at the end of the season, try and shift the guys that aren't good enough for this league that currently take up some of the wage bill and push on for next season.

I think it took Ivar finding his form again to change the defence, without him the only leader we had was Murty and we've seen before how clueless our defence can be without him.

We may not have great wings now, but we have balance there and at least a bit of threat on both sides. That has helped, as has some ability to play the ball around the middle of the park a bit better.

We're still crying out for a bit more quality delivery and any of our strikers to find a bit of form and start scoring though.

We did enough before xmas to keep us here with a few wins. We're almost there. But we need to make some quality signings in the summer now. Although there is still time for a few more to come good and the odd phoenix to rise from the ashes.

In any season for every club there are ups and there are downs.

The reactions of the fans during the downs speak volumes about their character.

Doesn't change the fact that I still feel let down by the club this season!

why?

the smallest, cheapest team in the prem manages to stay up by a good few points, closer to midtable than the drop, after spending nowt?

something to be proud of, not ashamed.

the smallest is nothing to do with coppell. we just are, get used to it,
and being the cheapest, staying up above teams that spent tens of millions, is a reason to be proud like i said

8 straight defeats and dropping into the bottom three does kinda destroy any sense of optimism don't you think? I was never calling for Coppell's head but I was convinced we were going down, as many were I'm sure.
But no one could be happier to see us win 3 of our last four either.
The whole atmosphere at the club has changed and is very much that of last season again.

Roll on Saturday!!

whos season ticket doubled in price?

mine went up from about 350 to 550 when we came up and has stayed that way since

and is pretty good value for a prem team in the south east, IMO

Likewise. Delighted that we have turned a corner that didn’t look possible a few weeks ago. That doesn’t stop me feeling that RFC could have achieved much more this season, and I hope the club learns from its mistakes and avoids an unnecessary flirtation with relegation next season (assuming that is, that everything doesn’t now fall apart between now and May). Very few fans actually called for Coppell’s head, and I think RR’s post and similar say more about an inferiority complex, a need to be shown as ‘right’, than it does about the generally passionate support for the club on this board, and the desire of the fans for it to do well.
