Allardyce? Now

oxf*rd right off.

Now.

Overrated cheating scumbag who would have us playing shit dirty hoofball.

Not in the Reading mold and if you could guarantee me we'd stay up if we sacked Coppell and brought him in I'd still tell you to oxf*rd off.

What he said. If he manages us I'd give serious consideration to not buying a season ticket which would fund his anti-football philosophy and top up the money which his son earns from non-corrupt dealings. Allegedly.

I don't think we're playing hoofball. We do try and play it on the deck sometimes. We do aimlessly hoof too much though.

We are also very far from dirty.

We don't set out to play hoofball, there's an obvious lack of confidence/skill and the fact that opposition midfields might as well get out the pipe and slippers against Harper/Matejovsky means we have no time or space at all on the ball. Result = hoof.

We're not dirty, I would say not physical enough (with our central midfield we can't be). We need some players in the team who can dominate or at least get a toehold in the game, otherwise we will continue to get battered.

Allardyce sets out to play hoofball and to be dirty, a horrible manager, horrible style and seems like a horrible man. Still I don't mind if we're horrible for these 4 games as long as we get some results.

Blame Coppell..........

by sawyers left arm » 14 Apr 2008 08:57

He has made mistake after mistake this year and playing buy one get one free up front on Saturday is another glaring error.
Does anyone think that if Lita had played 18 games in a row he wouldn't have scored like Doyle? Hard graft alone will not keep us up goals will.
We should recall Lita immediately and get him up front with Kitson for the remainder of the season. Letting him go on loan is another Coppell error
I would also like to see Hunt out, he has done nothing for weeks. When was the last time he beat a player and got some quality into the box? Oster might be a bit poor at times but at least he gets involved and our only chance on Saturday was from his cross.

Coppell has been a poor maanger this season, he has not done his job properly and has made some terrible mistakes. That said, this doesn't need another thread.
Be a good boy platy....

I can barely bring myself to type his name, but the Balding Guy has ruined RFC this year without a doubt.

There is no passion, no direction and clearly no idea. He's also looks like he's totally lost the plot. For this argument I offer anyone to have a look at Sky Sports Football First. Twice now the camera zoomed in on the Balding Guy for prolonged periods of time and he was sat there like a timid rabbit huddled in the corner twiddling his fingers out of fear of where the next goal was coming from and that fact that he had no idea what to do next.

How often is he ever on the touchline instructing his players? It looks to me that he sits up all night playing Football Manager 2008 and aligns the players. If they win, he'll field that team.

If the Lita rumour is true that the Balding Guy said he'd never play for him again, then that just shows how up his own arse that the Balding Guy is. Perhaps the Balding Guy should never manage RFC for us as fans again.

Big Sam would be ideal for me, the club and the rest of the fans. We'd actually start to have success again.

Why? Wouldn't you want UEFA Cup football and entertainers like Jay Jay Okocha in his prime, Nicolas Anelka, Youri Djorkaeff and so on?

No, I see where you're coming from, I'd rather watch James Harper wave at everyone and watch he ball bounce off of Shane Long with Stephen Hunt running around like a headless chicken and fail to beat the first man with a corner all season - that's proper football.

Big Sam is used to relegation battles and has had a few with Bolton.

He may not play pretty football, but hell at least the teams he manages plays football. It's time for change and the Balding Guy needs to be replaced by Big S. I know this won't happen as with the Emperor and his cunning plans we're doomed to be an underachieving club. Actually, it's people like you Mr Royal that are so against change that just adds weight to us as an underachiving club as well.

I'm not against change, Dodger, but I can't remember when Steve Coppell was replaced by Russ Abbott.

Now fukc off!!

And I don't think we are an underarchiving club - there has been plenty written about the club over time.

I think his two major mistakes were to "go with what we have got" and trusting others to find the right players.
Most of us felt that the squad needed significant improvement both in the summer and January but for whatever reason the club felt differently.
The buying of foreign players has not been a great success-is Coppell to blame for that or is he having to shop at Aldi rather than Asda which is about our mark?

All managers have favourite players but his two Irish favourites have been so out of form and he has become blinkered about them-loyalty can be a fault as well as a virtue-and to come out and say that he would like 11 Stephen Hunts has proven to be one of his less sensible utterings considering how badly he has played since signing that hefty new contract and entering a comfort zone?

I do like his management style,i.e not going over the top with wins or losses but I just don't think the squad is very good and would suggest that possibly only Kitson,Shorey,Harper and Doyle would be coveted by any other Premiership clubs and the £6 million offer by Roy Keane looks like some mental aberration on his part.

So for me it's let's keep Steve but a big review NOW of transfer policy depending upon which division we will be in next season and I would hope that there are specific transfer targets already rather than just seeing what is left out there during the summer.
Also how about a commitment by the chairman NOW about extending the ground?-that might show ambition from the board and a confidence in the players (which must be at an all-time low after Saturday)and could just help squeeze those very few points that we need from the upcoming games.
He can always (again) change his mind afterwards.

Am I right in saying that Coppell has been something like "managers manager of the year" for the past two years? Still, what do they know about it?

Coppell is not infallable but he's an excellent manager. Sadly, I suspect he'll call it a day at the end of this season whatever happens.

It sort of makes me laugh when people say that Allardyce would do any better. How long was he at Newcastle? Was he sacked for providing success and a good standard of football?

No, he was sacked because Geordies are some of the most stupid people in the country and instantly jump on the manager's back, like with Robson. This is why their club never have any success.

No, our manager's been in a job for nearly five years and history reflects that he hasn't achieved anything in top flight football. Oh yeah, and there are 34 games gone in the season, not just the five or whatever it was when Newcastle sacked Robson or the half season Allardyce was given to turn shit to gold.
