McBride scored because Rosenior was out of position for the man crossing and Shorey had let McBride just walk into the box to convert unmarked. I would say USA should have done much better with the second though, didn't narrow the angle enough and indeed made a poor dive

I thought it was Ingi in the box with McBride (but I was at the other end of the ground). Agreed that Rosenior was at fault for allowing the cross to be made. I thought Nevland finished well & the pace of the shot gave Marcus no change.

Should have done better with the second. Did stop two shots which he had no right to, the McBride volley and Hangeland header, so overall he contributed more good than bad yesterday.

On a side note, if we stay up and Fulham down I'd really like Brian McBride here. That strong as a bull style target man is something we desperately need.

I'd have disagreed a month or so ago, not about the type of player that we need, but that he could still do a job. I thought he was past his sell by date until Fulham have had their resurgence timed with his return to fitness.

Northern Git Second best season? That is just a f8ucking joke.

Second best league position we have ever achieved – yes.
Which kind've makes it our best season ever.

Some would argue that 1988 was the best season ever from the perspective of going to Wembley for the Royals inaugural trip..........and yet c/w silverwear we got relegated.

This season (our second best season ever) is not a "f8ucking joke" it is merely a statistical fact.....thanks for stating the obvious tho'..the results had obviously passed me by...........................

I am one of the most plastic on here. But I have to think, if you put the 2005-2006 Championship in the Prem that season that they would have easily finished higher than the 2007-2008 team is going to finish this year. So I would put this season third behind the previous two.

He signed an extension to his Fulham contract last January, so a club could have approached him to talk contracts then, if they and he wanted to.

Him, Beattie, a seasons ago Sutton - would have made a BIG difference to the side. Just having someone like that, coming on for 10 against a tiring defence or playing a bigger defence (see Man City at home last season for an example). Just having the extra option.

TheRealRoyal I say if we actually decide that we like playing in the premiership and dont get relegated, and fulham then do, JM shoud spalsh the cash on Bullard. The mans a legend. His performance was only bettered by that of the South Stand Crossbar.

I'd suggest that there is more chance of the Pope coming to Reading than Jimmy Bullard, Premier League or not (my money is on not).

well apparently while i was off getting a beer before the game i missed the highlight of the day which was some girl asking bullard if he'd like to play for us next season and APPARENTLY he said 'yeah i'd love to' LOL

Best season ever, the championship two years ago. That kind of season comes around once in a lifetime if you're lucky, whatever level your team's playing at. So many points, so many goals and what a goal difference.

Last year the second best season ever, confounding all those that predicted us to go down.

I really can't put this season anywhere near those. True, it's the highest level we've ever played at ... but you can't beat winning. I'd honestly put 4th div champion season 1978-79 better than this year (my first ever season of going regularly, so maybe that makes me a bit nostalgic).

So I suppose if we had 'done a Derby' and finished way bottom you would still think it's our second best season ever? Pinch me or has the concept of effectively competing and winning games been discounted from the 'good season / bad season' calculator?
No problems with stating the obvious Spizzzz - sounds like someone's got to put you right

Alan Partridge
Jerry St Clair Nail firmly hit on head by the Fulham fans.

After a season of utter crap, that has to be the big shiny turd on top of the effluent cake.

To pre-empt Alan Partridge: DUMP.

Said before the game it would be shit, thankfully though Fulham gave me some football to watch.

LOL @ Reading, seriously we are RUBBISH.

Bolton 3 Reading 0
Reading 0 Bolton 2
Fulham 3 Reading 1
Reading 0 Fulham 2

Deserve to go down.

IF we go down what will annoy me most is the fact we failed to even try to compete, too many cretinous performances like Saturday and a management team who seemed to spend much of the previous year telling us we're over achieving and need to strengthen and then singularly fail to do the remotest thing about it!

IF we go down next season will be SC's last as manager unless we are right up there in the top 6.

I truly believe Steve will bail out at the end of this season regardless of whether we stay up or go down.

I agree, though I think he will move upstairs for his final year on his contract to allow someone else to bed in.

I thought that Steve had already said (many times) that he will honour his contract.

Maybe I imagined it or I remember it wrong.

He can still honour his contract by moving into another position at the club
