Bolton were a yo-yo club for years, West Brom are the definition of one, and as for Sunderland...

The benefit to being a yo-yo club is you get a nice promotion every two or three years, something we could all do with. In fact the more I think about it, it's perfect for us. The RTG's will get plenty to exult about, the STG's will get plenty to crow about, those who think we belong in the PRemiership will be happy half the time, those who yearn for the purity of Championship football will get their fix, we'll be able to schedule a visit to Old Trafford and the Emirates every couple of years, with a nice day at Blackpool or Plymouth in the off years. How could anyone possible complain.

There now. Stop you bickering and give us a nice smile, eh?

I think that Bolton and Fulham have a harder run in than us. Yes they won today but we played Arsenal. If we don't get anything at Wigan, then it's doom and gloom i think!

I like your reasoning Arch.

Even I was missing that winning championship feeling today.

Could it be arranged so that we are beaten in the play off final every season rather than being promoted?
3 extra games. A winning semi and then a trip to Wembley. Smashing!

Good post, couldn't agree with you more. I wouldn't have a problem with Championship football next season .Not saying I am happy about the football this season, but we are in this situation for a reason. At least I 'll be able to get back to where the supporters are. East & North.

Daniella Just watched the scene's of peteroborugh walking round the pitch with the sky sports script saying " peterborough are promoted", loads of shots of their players dancing and hugging, etc
Hold that thought.

Bolton win today and we are being sucked out of the premiership, we are now favourites for that 3rd place.

I can see a similar images at derby away on the last day. Steve coppell walking round the pitch murty on his knees shirt over his head with the sky sports title saying " reading are relegated from the premiership".

Yeah and Peterborough got promoted!

Its all down to the club being loyal to the players that got them in the Premiership, buying players that won't upset the team spirit (meaning buying players that fit into the wage structure) and lack of ambition that has been Readings problem.

I said at the beggining of the season, the club could have egg on their faces if they are relegated (I know this hasn't happened yet, but it's close) because of the lack of investment in the team and not bringing in quality proven players. You can only unearth so many bargain players, but ultimately you get what you pay for in this life. It's a competitive market out there and most good players at Prem level would rather go elsewhere because of 1)joining a bigger club 2)chance of winning something 3)higher wages 4) More security in terms of playing Premiership football.

In terms of Steve Coppell, he's done a great job at Reading but I think if the board and the club want to move forward they need to bring in a manager that can attract decent players to the club that wouldn't otherwise join and of course the board would need to stump up the cash.

No decent "big name" manager would want to come to Reading, as Reading can't afford to challenge for trophies. If the likes of Spurs struggle to do it, how can we ever afford to?

Sure, if we had a chairman willing to throiw away £30 million or so a season chasing a dream, it could be done, but there aren't too many chairman like that.

It doesn't have to be a big name manager. A big name player looking to kick off his managerial career. As long as he has decent coaches to work along side him. I'd get Vialli in.
