North Somerset Royal If it works for Brum why not for the R's?

Relegated Birmingham City are to introduce a singing section at St Andrews next season after fans contacted the club with ideas. A club spokesman said: "One that stood out was having an area of the ground designated for supporters who like a good old sing-song."

Wow how thoroughly pointless, although midly quaint.

Brum's sing-song stand

by sucatraps » 30 May 2008 11:17

Haven't seen a reference to this on HNA, (prepared for a dodding if necessary) but featured on a midlands news programme I saw whilst away this week, "Birmingham's singing faithful will be gathered together in one area of the St Andrew's ground next season" Brought about by fans lobbying the club!

We've got no chance then, unless the club suggest it to STAR first, and they (the club not STAR) can make money out of it that is.

Nice idea though.

Some of the Birmigham fans aren't too happy about it as they have chosen to place it in the furthest possible place from the away fans. It would be like us putting it in the north-west corner of the ground.

Better one big singing area away from away fans than a small area near them IMO. Surely its about creating an atmosphere and inspiring the team rather than wding up the away fans?

In a completely selfish, inconsiderate and unappreciative way maybe the scrapping of the under 12s band will help this.I think the ground needs a pricing structure to match the different requirements for fans. For example the under 12s band could be re-instated in the west stand and possibly half of the north. This would encourage those with families to be located in these areas of the ground, not by force but by financial incentive and therefore allow those of us who want to stand (in moments of excitement only of course  )do so without impeding there view.
