clear out of centre backs

by Only one Trevor Morley » 20 Jun 2008 12:29

The one position we need a good clear out of is centre back - we could get at least 3 off the wage bill and then combine the wages to get a decent midfiedler or right winger. Or even left winger should Hunt go and the rumours about Convey retiring turn out to be true.

I would keep

Duberry
Ingimarrson
Bikey
Pearce

Cisse is cover here and in midfield

Get rid of

Sonko
Sodje
Bennett

ALOLan Bennett - a legitimate way of RFC giving Cork more money due to the absolute steal of a price we payed for Doyle.

I enjoyed BEnnett's little article in the EP today, As if mate  we could have 50 injuries and it would still be NO FANKS, he found his level at League 2. I heard Coppell say on the OS that he wasn't happy with the squad size last season, well that's your problem, filled it with crap like Sodje and Bennett who were of no use from day 1 of them being here. They were NEVER going to be good enough.

keep

Pearce
Sonko
Duberry
Ingimarsson

Cisse & Bikey also as cover for both defence and midfield

So no doubt that'll be Bennett and Sodje as our starting partnership next season then!

Been said by many that Inga is a bit slow now, so Sonko back if fit and going well, with Bikey or Doobs, Inga has also played in midfield, so perhaps could do a job there. He could be the annoying little scamp about at ya heels terrier we need.

I prefer Sonko over Duberry I think. Better in the air, more athletic. Although if there is any bad blood between him and Coppell then go ahead and ship him out.

Yeah but doobs is more reliable than sonko
Also i couldnt see doobs refusing to play for the reserves
I reckon we should keep both as well as pearce, ingimarsson, bikey and cisse
Bennet and Sodje can go

Bennett ....

Would have been better to have given Cork a preseason friendly or two, if you ask me.

The other half's family are Brentford "fans", and would love to have Bennett back permanently. I'll drive him up there myself to get him to sign....anyway, I'd keep

Sonko
Inga
Pearce
Bikey
Cisse
Doobs

And get rid of Bennett and Sodje.

Cisse and Bikey are good midfielders as well as defenders, and seeing as Sonko and Inga dicked all over Championship attacks last time round, why not start with the two of them, with Doobs as permanent cover. Cisse and Bikey in midfield, and Pearce....well, dunno what to do with the lad

Get rid of Cisse as well.

Not good enough in the air, not good enough on the ball.

Not really much you can do with that is there? Him and Kebe.

Certainly would like to see Bikey stay. Would have him as 1st choice, with a younger version of Ivar. Of course that would mean signing someone better than Ivar, which won't happen.

Cisse has had one season in English football and that was in the top flight playing teams that made up 3 of the 4 semi finalists in the Champions league.

Next season he will have a season under his belt and be playing a standard of football that is considerably lower than the premiership.

He is a utility player that can fill a number of positions which is what all teams need.
