The latest BUMPER Reading Matter

by LUX » 02 Jul 2008 08:56

just got it through the post, thanks. Slightly disappointed because this BUMPER edition is 90% (?)reports of months-old fans forum ( or similar )meetings. I understand you want everything to be on the record, but this stuff really has no relevance/little interest now.

There is an interesting pre-Derby interview with Coppell, but not that much else.

sorry for the complaint, but I always enjoy reading this publication.

ps yes, I'll rejoin STAR for the new season.

pps keep up the (otherwise very good) work

Did you know you currently have more posts on HNA than LAbour got votes in Henley, had you not post twice on this thread it would have been a recount

I'd like to disagree with you on this one Lux. I found the write ups of the Fans Forums and stuff very informative and interesting seeing as I couldn't be present.

The jokes grated with me quite a lot (although I'm ashamed to admit I chuckled at a couple). It would have been niec if there was some more up to date stuff, but I guess there isn't a whole lot to report right now.

Thanks STAR.

Renewal details posted days ago! Looking forward to that competition thing as well. Although I should have kept a copy so I remember who I picked.

I think that the STAR Board would agree that a great deal of info was late being delivered. However, on balance we decided that the info was relevant in some respects and hence included it. It was a bumper edition and there is a degree of transition at the moment.

I am the guy who decided to try including some jokes - and so far the response I have received has been more positive than negative.

Perhaps what would most help me would be ideas of what readers would like to see included in future. I am hoping to include action pix from games on a regular basis [subject to agreement from RFC] and also to include interviews with players.

We are discussing sending out 2 issues per year rather than 3. This preserves cash in terms of postal costs and saves a great deal of volunteers time stuffing envelopes etc. The dates in mind are either just before Xmas [possibly difficult to rally volunteers] / just into the New Year, and June of 2009.

Please let me know what your thoughts are on this as they will be put before the Board for consideration.

Best wishes
wch.

I'd like to see stuff which doesn't duplicate what the match programme / fanzines / local press / websites cover.

That would be issue related / fan stuff - either RFC or general football. Possibly info on what other Trusts / Supporters Clubs are doing ?

I think I'd find interviews with football people other than players more interesting - unless the player was talking about specifically fan related issues. People like Ray Booth / Clive Doyle / John Hobson could probably give us a lot more useful info / thinking that is not arleady available elsewhere than Stephen Hunt or Sonko !

A bit of investigative journalism would be good - nothing complex buy a look at issues that have arisen at RFC and how they have been handled at other clubs - pricing, catering , away ticket allocation - the usual stuff.

Thanks.
