Cheap Car Parking

by working class hero » 19 Aug 2008 10:01

There are still a few places left at Christ the King School, Lulworth Rd, RG2 8LX. The cost for the rest of the season [including cup games] is £110. STAR membership required.

This is a bargain compared to the £200 or so to park in the other car parks.

Please apply to
STAR
36 Wendover Way
Tilehurst
RG30 4RU.

Some car parks are £10 and even the planned 'free' parking at the stadium is £8.

You can also get your car hand washed for a fiver and the park is attended all afternoon.

It is truly a BARGAIN and CHEAP.....

It's not cheap compared to parking on the road just outside the car park, or when you have to walk for 25mins to the ground. However it is worth it for secure parking in Whitley.

It is cheaper than the £8 I pay to park at Smallmead so as I am a STAR member why dont I go for it? Simple its too far away from the Mad Stad and if you are prepared to walk a mile and a half you can park for free. Why don't STAR negotiate with firms on Green Park to provide parking at a reasonable price within a reasonable distance?

North Somerset Royal Why don't STAR negotiate with firms on Green Park to provide parking at a reasonable price within a reasonable distance?

I was very tempted to answer with the sarcastic - gosh never thought of that!

However STAR did negotiate parking in Green Park 6 years ago but the London boss of Prudential stopped it and so far no-one has persuaded the London brass that those 'orrible football types are well-behaved enough to enter their area. Hence the security landrovers always parked at each entrance to Green Park to stop anyone without reason to enter Green Park from doing so. In fact when we helped the Royal Families with their Costco parking on New Year's Day there was a problem getting the landrover far enough back to let anyone as far as Costco.

Reading Football Club, Reading Borough Council and even STAR have all tried to get local companies to let supporters use their land to park and you will know how few have agreed. We know the school is a long way from the ground but we have agreed to administer it (all proceeds go to the school) so that our members can have at least one secure place to park.

It was not intended as a suggestion but a genuine question so I am glad you resisted a sarcastic reply. The Football Club are offering spaces on Green Park which would seem to suggest that the reasons you give are no longer valid.

Not really. The actual parking at Foster Wheeler is free. The £3.50 is for the bus. With the STAR arrangement there is no bus. You have to walk about a mile and a half. If you walk from FW it costs nothing.
