Reading 7 Barnsley 0 back in about 78. I was 6 and have been hooked ever since. Every shot we had went in!

What a game that was! I would add 6-2 against Stockport Trever Senior scoring the fastest hat trick 4 minutes I think. Winning 2-1 at Oxford around the time of the Maxwell take over was sweet even though we still went down. A 4-2 win at Chesterfield on the last day of the season 2-0 down at half time and staring relegation in the face. Beating Forest 2-1 in the Simod was a brilliant performance they were a top team at the time gilkes was on fire that night. The semi against Coventry was a magical night for me even better than the final. Another game that will always stick with me was Brentford away during our 13 game winning start to the season, Brentford were all over us and Senior Buried a left screamer in the last minute to nik the win we all went mental happy days.

Agreed, not many on here that would have been there.

I always regard that one as THE turning point for RFC.

As already mentioned, the Wembley play off final, whilst awful for us in hindsight was a fantastic game.

The 4-2 Wolves game just after McGhee left was top draw.

A spell in the Pardew days when we decided to batter teams 3, 4 and 5 nil. It must have been autumn'ish 01/02? I remember Igoe and Caskey scoring a few blinders.

Whilst not the best advert for football the semi final play off 2nd leg against Wigan and the other Wolves late, late Archie show are, to this day the best "feeling" games I've attended.

Sort of proud in a way to say I was there...! Do you also remember at half time the most pikey looking Chesterfield fan (and I imagine that there is some competition) in our end being dragged out by the cops and losing his shoe only to have it returned over the fence by us hitting him on the head as he was dragged around the side of the pitch in front of the away end!!

I remember staying overnight in Derby afterwards and going on the lash to celebrate avoiding a relegation that no one thought was likely or going to happen until a far fetched combination of other half time scores meant we were staring the basement in the face.

My memory is a little hazy but didn't Bev score two pens?

I still think the two major turning points were Madejski arriving and McGhee's appointment. On the pitch the modern Reading sera started in the second half of 92/93 when the team just seemed to click.
and Lee Payne...where is he now??!!

Ian Royal Reading 3-4 Bolton - 1995 Play Off Final @ Wembley
Reading 0-3 Manchester Utd 1997 FA Cup (4th round?)
Reading 3-0 Wolves 1996 - Quinn's belter
Reading 2-1 Wolves 1997 - Archie's injury time brace
Reading 4-0 Sunderland 1997 - Asaba on fire
Reading 4-2 Wolves 1997 League Cup. - Parky's screamer and Adie's own goal.
Reading 3-2 Bolton 1997 - Quinn in goal
Reading 3-0 Luton - first game at Mad Stad.
Reading 3-0 Forest - Watson changing the game
Reading 3-2 'Boro - First Premier League game
Reading 2-3 Manchester Utd - FA Cup replay

Those are just the ones off the top of my head. Unfortunately I get to much fewer games now that we're actually good, as opposed to when were on a downward slide in the mid to late 90s. Too much beer means I struggle to remember what games I went to after a season finishes these days.

This one cost me a television as The Gunn clipped one off the crossbar at 2-3. Lager all over it, bad times.
The 1-1 at Old Trafford cost me a severe dead leg as I fell about 8 rows forward after a skin full and the equaliser, great times.
Went to the pub across the road after and put on a fake Manc accent for about half an hour whilst being questioned by some big scary fans, rumbled in the end but they were pretty cool, terribly drunk.

But if we'd lost that one and instead beaten either Fulham or Bolton we would have stayed up!

Restricted myself to ten games.

Reading 6 Barrow 3. My first game back in 1970 not a bad one to start with!
Reading 5 Tranmere 0. Robin Fridays stunning goal and still my favourite ever Reading player.
Reading 4 Plymouth 3. Was going to be one of the worst games until the last 25 minutes.Kevin Bremner's finest Reading hour.
Reading 2 Huddersfield 1. FA Cup night game, freezing cold, blowing a gale straight down the pitch.Goal kicks blown back for corners! Extra time, Senior scored the winner.Huddersfield fans missing last train home.Tell them about the magic of the Cup!
Reading 4 Luton 1. Simod Cup final. Gilkes being compared to Ruud Guilit in the papers!!
Reading 3 Bolton 4. Play Off final.Brilliant performance in the first half, but when that penalty was missed knew we would lose.
Reading 3 Luton 0. First game at Mad Stad. Elm Park R.I.P
Reading 0 Sheffield United 2. First game my daughter ever went to. Freezing cold, wet, and last ever defeat to Sheff U, but despite this she has been loyal fan since.
Reading 2 QPR 1. Murty scoring and then the party began.
Reading 3 Middlesborough 2. First Premiership game, come along way since Barrow!

Apart from the last game,my favourite games are non premiership.Perhaps the passing of time made the earlier games seem more memorable.

RoyalChicagoFC 2-0 Villa home.

Up 'n' at 'em two hours before daybreak on the coldest day of the winter, two buses to the pub for a 6:45 AM KO.

Since it was the day's early game, the bar was beginning to fill up with the Utd/Chelase/Toon/'Pool gloryseekers as Sidwell finished off his brace late on.

Also my 40th and the day that BHO announced his candidacy. Doesn't get any better, although 3-1 over Tottenham at home under similar circumstances comes close.

I really enjoyed the Spurs game - I think it was our first win against a BIG side that season and we did it in such style. I think our form had faltered just before it (run of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Portsmouth? )

A spell in the Pardew days when we decided to batter teams 3, 4 and 5 nil. It must have been autumn'ish 01/02? I remember Igoe and Caskey scoring a few blinders.

I watched pretty much every game that season using either the rudimentary internet of the day or teletext. Think I attended about 3 games in person. :|

Whilst not the best advert for football the semi final play off 2nd leg against Wigan and the other Wolves late, late Archie show are, to this day the best "feeling" games I've attended.

Again, a teletext game on the first. There was a BIG MATCH on - Champions League final? - anyway, I insisted we put invision on the college TV and it was stuck at 1-0 Wigan until late. The other game had finished and I sat there getting mocked by whoever else was in the JCR.

And then, at about 10:15, it updated.

Victor Meldrew Reading 2 Sheff Wed 3 (FA Cup in the days when teams put out their best eleven)

F.A. Cup Third round 1966.
Possibly the last time a 20000 plus crowd at Elm Park? A last minute winner for first division Wednesday, and I recall a brilliant action pic of Pat Terry challenging England keeper Ron Springett featuring in all the Sunday papers.

The 5-0 win over Oldham was great, it was during the petrol shortage. One of the goals was a long range effort from Igoe, when he received the ball from a throw in!!!

True but if we had lost it and still lost to Fulham and Bolton, The last day of the season would of been irrelevant

That 6-3 game was a belter and cemented my love of Reading FC from that point. We had a very small team that year and seemed to swarm all over the opposition. Or have I got RTG's?

Good obscure choice, the SB was heaving that night. I usually went at the front of the cage but couldn't get anywhere near it that night.

When you are only 10 they all look huge, but you are right Mr Cumming. From goalkeeper to centre forward vertically challenged.Didn't Les Chappell score a hatrick. He was my first hero,to be replaced by the main man,Robin Friday,in the mid 70,s.
