According to Sky Reading are prepared to listen to offers for any of there players if this is true What is the point of the supporters paying good money watching a football team that no ambition to get promotion because that it what is going to happen if they sell Hunt and Doyle we can forget it you see wolves or brummy offering all there players to anyone

Any club will listen to any offers for any player if the offer is good enough so this is a complete and utter non story like most media drivel when transfer windows are upon us.

Exactly, there is no player on the planet who is not for sale at any price so the story is meaningless.


However, equally, every player has their price so I wouldn't take Doyle saying he's not leaving as a complete end to the matter.

no i saw the interview live on ssn yesturday he said nothing of the sort! He talked about lita, saying he was comminted to the club we accepted an offer for him but he wanted to stay and he was very happy about it he then went on to say like all of our players we wont keep anyone against there will but we have no plans to sell anyone

Yeah. But doesn't Hunt want to play for a better standard of a club than poxy Wigan? I think he'd choose Spurs over them.

Whilst Wigan are definitely one of the Premiership's small fry (probably still the smallest whitebait) they have been in that league for 4 seasons now and are almost certainly going to be in it for the 5th successive year. On top of that with the way the league is going, 7th place and the UEFA cup is also a feasible goal for them to aim at. So from a football side it might not be that bad a move, AND he'll play there.

I can't believe a Reading fan is saying that! Wigan are our type of club, and currently have a better manager and team than Spurs. When we are back in the top half of the Prem and established there for four years, I'll be mightily pissed off if a top Championship player chose a struggling former big club over us.

And they rose all the way up because their chairman was throwing his money around, more than us. I even remember their chairman moaning about us in 20001/2 (I think), that we didn't deserve to go up because they had been up there regularly for 3/4 seasons.

Plus their players always cheat. Always seemed to get a penalty against us (though not any more) and they were the first to win at the Madejski Stadium.

You know what I mean - they're not an Aldershot, but neither are they an Arsenal. They aspire to emulate the Tottenhams of this world, so why wouldn't S Hunt want to join them? He might even feel more comfortable knowing that there's a similar feel to the club.

I think Spacey's gone off on one of his rants, but I have to agree that Wigan aren't really our type of club.

They got up by throwing money at it and are relying on TV money to keep them there. Go down and they will slide away again. Their gates in the Premiership are pretty poor tbh. Unless they've found another 5000-10000 supporters since I last paid attention to their attendence.

Saying that I think Wigan would be a decent bet for SHunt. They could probably just about afford him, he'd play and he wouldn't necessarily just be involved in a relegation fight.

Well, OK I'm not going to split hairs - you have actually underlined my original point which was that I don't think that it would be that surprising or silly if S Hunt went to Wigan instead of Spurs.

In other respects though as has been demonstrated Wigan are of course a very different club to us, but that's not the point.

That may be so, but I doubt that Wigan's stay in the Premiership will be for very much longer, I can see them losing their stars at some point (this season or next season) and slipping down the table.
