Bristol Paul looks like a bargain £250k according to a couple of Sky Blues forums. Opinions seem a bit mixed as to whether he is any good or not.

I'd say he would at least cost 600k

I think it is somewhere like £500K which will be doubled if we gain promotion.

I have to admit all I know about him has come off here or other sites browsed in the last 15 minutes or so. Clearly proven at this level, player of the season is always a telling award as the people who vote for it are the ones who watch week in week out. A good range of passing is what we need in this midfield at the moment so hopefully he can provide it. From the little I know, an excellent piece of business.

People talk about Hunt going, if Tabb is an intelligent player with a good passing range, as people are saying he is, surely you could suggest Matejovsky's time is numbered. He hasn't looked as good as we'd hoped in his few chances so far this season and, as everybody seems aware, he really doesn't fit into our system. If we've brought Tabb in to provide a little more quality on the ball whilst chipping in with his defensive work and keeping up with the pace of the game, surely it would fit to accept any decent offers for Marek.

parky anybody else think he looks like an older version of that kid from High School Musical?

Yes, all the female fans will be chuffed...me included
Great signing, i all of a sudden won't be so gutted if SHunt leaves. I think SSC has given up on Convey.
Midfield looks great now, Shunt, Kebe, Henry, Cisse, Matejovsky...getting a place in the team for the players is going to be tougher than ever!

Kitson12
shaka's shorts if he had waited a couple of days he could have had the no 10 shirt, rather than 37!

Still very pleased - a typical Coppell signing and that is a good thing

Convey not picked for the reserves again tonight, so hopefully he is going rather than Shunt

Number 5 is also free, unless Tabby wanted 37, is that the age he'll be here till?

He had 21 at Cov i thought 31 would be most appropriate but bargain for less than £1mil, great signing at last someone iv heard of at the time of him signing

I have seen Jay play down the right when playing for Brentford, when they have shown a match on SKY. He looks OK but I wonder if he will find an immediate place in the first team, even just as a sub to to provide cover for either Kebe or Hunt ? Nevertheless the thought that has occurred is that as we are without Rosenior for the next few games, would he fit there in combination with Kebe ??

Rosenior is only banned for one game according to the OS...

Versatile, technically sound and seems like he wants to do his best for the club. Good signing, he'll supplement the squad and hopefully it will allow James Henry to go out on loan and continue his development.

Looks like a typical SSC signing, hard working player who SSC has working knowledge of, and if any of his other "previous experience of" signings are to go by he will be a good asset to the club, good signing, happy with that one and not expensive all the hallmarks of a sound piece of buissiness.

Here's hoping - maybe Parky will take him ?

LOL at the comment about not getting Shunt in exchange!

Tab seems a well respected player and the praise is good to read. Hopefully a very, very astute buy. He seems quite a versatile player which is something that will support this team if/when Shunt goes.

Sounds very popular with the Coventry fans. I must admit I'm pleasantly surprised at the lack of bitterness regarding his departure to a rival club. Presumably we'll all have equally kind words about Hunt if/when he joins Wigan/Everton/Spurs/Sunderland.*

Brentford have a 10% clause due to him leaving them before the age of 24, according to a director on GPG

If one of the clubs requests 'undisclosed' then that's the way it is presented. My own limited experiences at League Two level have been that few transfers are for a straightforward one-off payment fee. For example I could give you six different numbers for the Connell to Bournemouth transfer and they'd all be right. The Tabb fee is possibly a basic payment upon signing plus add-ons i.e. :

£250k now
£100k if Reading promoted and Tabb starts ten matches
£100k if Reading promoted and Tabb scores five goals
£100k full international cap

In the above example (and I have no knowledge yet of the detail) it could be argued that the fee is £550k but Coventry wouldn't want that public 'cos their fans may think that they've immediately received that money to chuck around and of course they haven't.

I like the way they are much more respectful to Tabb. Wishing him luck and thanking him for his services - I dont see the majority of HNA doing that to a player leaving!

It also shows how far we've come, when Cov fans see it as a move up to come to Reading.

Unsurprising transfer, ticks all of Coppell's boxes, only thing I can't find is the Cork City reference!

Must say I would have liked to see Campbell-Ryce from Barnsley join, this would seem to end any (if there was any) interest in him, Also as mentioned I wonder if this is because someone has offered the £5million for Hunt or whether this is an insurance policy if that happens. Have to wonder as to why Coventry are selling their player of the season for £200,000?!

I thought he was fairly impressive in the home game, he works hard, tended not to stay wide, he wanted to get in the game and kept tucking inside to get the ball. Hope he does well here and good luck to him.

It really does look as if, yet again, Coppell has signed a player for a fraction of his true potential and one that I can't see sitting on the bench for very long.

To read a whole thread of Coventry fans wishing him well with hardly a bad word to say is very impressive.

Given we have a manager who likes small squads, it seems obvious that someone will be leaving and it's just a case of who.

Whilst the Hunt Haters salivate at the thought of saying goodbye to a play who has proved them wrong on countless occasions, my money is on a "Bye bye, Bobby, thanks for everything" thread appearing on these pages in the very near future.
