Reading are so bad that I can't even be bothered to moan about it. If they were playing in my back garden I'd close the curtains, turn on the sprinklers and release the Doberman. Althought knowing Liam Rosenior's positional sense he'd probably be in the wrong garden in the first place.

Once again I felt dreadfully sorry for our players tonight.
The only thing worse than watching our promotion hopes slowly going up in smoke must be playing in our team, knowing your good enough to beat the bottom side in the league but being totally stuffed by your managers flawed and out dated tactics.
Parky may have all his coaching badges but I bet anyone of his kids could have told him what to expect from us tonight.
2 neat and predictable banks of four, no pace at the back and weak though the centre.
PS, The left winger has been poor for months but never gets dropped.
PPS. They've got a class centre half who never gets selected.
You're a nice bloke, Steve, and I'd like to remember you for the good times. So, I'm praying that this season will be your last.........................and once more I'm wondering if I can face Saturday.

Sadly this evening i can add my thought to a back from game thread.
The quality of football on show was poor, there was little in the way of entertainment from either side.
I thought Little started well, combining well with Rosenior on a few occasions, but nothing came from any of the crosses, despite the goals the defence looked fine, Doobs won most of the balls in the air throughout the game. Armstrong did some good work as did rosenior. I also thought that pearce should have been taken off, if the injury was causing enough for him to be sent from the pitch twice by the referee.
S Hunt, very poor, and rightly subbed. For me the biggest disappointment was Cisse, as the match was so poor I spent a while seeing what he was doing, and it looked like he was making a big effort not to get involved in anything, in fact the more I watched the more it became apparant that he did not really want to be playing football.
Nothing came from central midfield, there was very little passing football.
However one bright spot was Jay Tabb, superb corner, and a couple of good moves down the left side, at least he looked like he was a footbaaller, on his runs he kept looking to see whre other players were, rather than head down and charge, hoping he can get a run in the side.

Hard to find any positives at all.
The front two were made to look worse than they were by having the ball either lobbed vaguely in thier direction or shot at them - either way, very little for them to go on. The White Pele started well but faded, Rosenior was a strange mixture of too casual and too rushed. We should have had a second penalty - clear handball in the box. Tabb's corner was probably the only decent cross all game, and the result - a goal. Armstrong can sleep easy, Pearce defended well enough but distribution poor, Long's second half performance was good given the circumstances.
Can't see what the probelm is with AFed - no worse than USA. Their keeper made two fantastic saves in the first half. Charlton are down, and the way we played tonight, we're looking at playoffs at best.
Still, at least I got some fresh air.

Stretch 6 - routine game
Doobs 5 - Poor game
Pearce 6 - routine game
Rosie 8 - mom, some of his first half play (brought in by Blakey) was some of the best that I have seen him this year. One of the tackles that he chased down was world class.
SHunt 6 - all effort, no result (retrieved a couple of lost causes tho)
Cisse 6 - routine game
Marek 6 - routine game

Very poor overall again - four home games without a win!! The Players seemed to largely lack urgency until the 5 minutes of extra time. If I compare that to say the performance against Swansea earlier in the season it was like chalk and cheese.
I think Steven Hunt is the main difference. That day against Swansea he looked like a world beater and ran Swansea ragged. But this season (just like last season) as soon as January came Hunt's performances went from brilliantly to pathetic almost overnight. I really have no explanation. It could be that each time he has got a new contract and has then stopped caring but I think that would be harsh. Or it could be that he just gives everything and then runs out of steam but either way he must be rested for a month or so and just maybe he could play a big part at the end of the season. He was dire today.
As for the official - they were dreadful again. Not saying they were anti Reading as their decisions were just randomly bad all night. I may have complained about some of the referring in the PL but coming back down to the Championship you realise that the top refs are a class apart from the shower that we have seen referring this season.
Fed - 5 - He may not have been at fault for the goals but I felt he looked less sure of himself tonight for the first time since he came in.
Armstong - 5 - again one of his poorer overall displays I thought.
Pearce - 7 - generally won his headers and calm on the ball
Duberry - 5 - responsible for the second goal and nowhere to be seen for the first either.
Rosenior - 5 - again one of his poorer overall performances but did link quite well with Little in the first half
S.Hunt - 3 - need I say more
Matejovsky 6 - an enigma - one superb ball followed by two dreadful ones all night
Cisse - 6 - held the midfield together fairly well but not his best game
Little - 8 - a very good first half - provided a touch of class -but faded second half which was not surprising
Doyle -6 - ran his socks off but without much joy
Long - 8 - MOTM performance. Held the ball up well - won the "dubious" penalty and tucked it away nicely. Great header. I am pleased for him as unlike most on here I have always thought he had potential. That potential seems to be at last coming good.
Tabb -6 - a great cross for the second goal
Harper - 5 - cannot remember him doing much
Hunt - 5 - also had little impact

F*cking hell, I clearly watched a different game to every other Reading fan tonight
I though Marek had a very good game, always looking to move forward, always sliding though a pass. Some came off and were great, some didnt but hey ho. Harper wouldnt even try so that gets Marek the thumbs up for me
Thought Little had nice touches but clearly doesnt have the legs to try and beat a man. It was frustrating to see the only crosses coming in from an overlapping Rosenior. And he cost us badly defensively in the 2nd, gave Rosenior no help at all.

We need to sort out defence out. Pearce and stretch are quality at the back. But I think it's time Bikey comes in for Doobs.

The only time in the match I felt we really wanted to win it was when we came out for the second half. We went straight towards the Charlton goal and ended up getting a penalty and you've got to give it to Shane Long, he really went for it. Then he scored the second and we just seemed to sit back a bit. There just didn't seem to be any urgency at all. We had free kicks and throw-ins and we were still just ambling about as if we'd already lost. I wanted to shout at them to 'come on!' - well, I did 
but no one else near me did. Everyone seemed too shocked by what was going on on the pitch.
I'm tempted to say take Doyle off and put Kitson on for the next match. He just doesn't seem able to get involved in the game as much as he used to...and Duberry for Bikey. Don't know what else to say...except perhaps can we keep the ball down more and pass it more?
It's a shame because I thought we were starting to play much better together at Plymouth and expected another improvement today.

For a guy who hasn't played since December, I think Little did f*cking well first half. Practically invisible second half though, prob due to lack of match fitness. At the least the guy tried to create a passing game rather than Rosenoir who just f*cking hoofed the ball down the wing every f*cking time.
And at least Marek tries to attack. When Harps and Cisse play the gap between midfield and front two is huge!
Bikey out to sort out our not-so-watertight defence and Tabb on for Hunt. But please Coppell, please don't bring back Harper. I can see it now, Harps and Cisse starting on Saturday.

SHunt 6 - Needs a rest, something to bring the spark back. Never looks like beating a man
Cisse 7 - a bit patchy (we need someone to dominate) but got some VG tackles in
Marek 7 - Jekkyl and Hyde. I feel less certain about him but (at the moment) would still pick him. We have more going forward but we are more vulnerable to counter-attacks, no question
Little 5 - A bit "false" in the first half, (6) did simple stuff to stay within himself and cleverly got Rosy to do all the running cos he couldn't run. Second half he was a passenger and he simply couldn't chase their overlapping FB, put Rosy under extra pressure
Shane 9 - At the start he was so keen he was bouncing. Ran his heart out, got some good challenges in. Once or twice he tried to "do the right thing" when he should have just gone for goal. One great run and of course got the volley and two goals. MoM
Doyle 6 - He looks a bit flat but a flat Doyle is still dangerous
Tabb 8 - tenacious, gets into the tackle, would like to see him in central midfield. Good work on left, good corner for the goal

I'm really pleased for Long as he has come in for alot of stick in the past but now is proving what a handy player he can be. I'll hold my hands up because not long ago I was saying how he is rubbish. Seems to be willing to chase every ball nowdays.
