I must admit I have critisized Long in the past but tonight he proved his worth to this Club.

1871royals Well done to Kebe and Long

Both of them have received unwarranted stick from the so called experts on here.

I wonder where the Kebe is the worst player ever posters are now?

Still don't rate him, good couple of crosses tonight but consistency is key.

We are playing in the championship, you will struggle to find a consistent winger other than Kightly at this level.

Anyway I dont think hes brilliant but just as per usual on hob nob posters were way too critical.

He defo isnt the worst player to ever play for us.

Since when has Kebe had a left foot? :?

I think it was a fix.

The best performance I have seen from G'arn Shane for this club.

Did a lot of ugly work to complement his two well-taken finishes.

Brilliant performance from Shane. I agree with Schards - he was my MOTM before he scored.

9 league goals this season - not too bad eh?

Ian Royal Statistics are not the be all and end all of football. There is much much more to it than that. Long has been dire almost every time he has started. He has a poor first touch and poor decision making. His record is not really in the least bit impressive, he just doesn't score enough.

Shane isn't a good player imo. He's had 4 years to prove himself and he hasn't. Some of his goals have been lucky, some have been pretty quality, but that's not good enough at this level, let alone in the Premiership. And if he *was* that good, how come he's never been linked with any other clubs! Royal Lady

(Shane’s) attitude is extremely suspect. He gets very petulent when things aren't going his way (most the time) and he reacts badly to decisions not going in his favour and is quite rash. (Ian Royal)

Completely out of his depth. (Baines)

(Ian Royal) I think we should get rid

I still don't think he is good enough at this level though. (rg6royal)

He's not a championship player as he simply is not good enough to command a regular role in the first team. He demonstrates a complete lack of ability and does not possess a footballing brain. He can't anticipate well enough how plays are going to carry out, and he's neither really skillful or pacey, which are two traits that are important for strikers in the modern game. (Riskit for a biskit)

a thread trying to defend shane longs performances...laughable (Hughsie’s No 1)

(Long) will NEVER be good enough to start regularly for a decent Reading side (mid tier 2 or higher). (Ian Royal)

Long? No chance. (Ian Royal)

A side willing to carry (Long) won't be good enough to have a 20 goal a season forward. (Hoop Blah)

Long will NEVER, EVER score 20 goals in a season at this level. (Ian Royal)

I cannot believe he will ever be a 20 goals a season player at Conference standard or higher because he, simply, isn't very good. (Schards2)

Shane, I like you as a person. You're just not a very good footballer. (Royal Lady)

Sorry, missed that one. I'm just too busy laughing at Snowball's desperate attempts to show Long is a real footballer. (Skyline)

(Long is) not strong or pacey at all, he gets muscled off the ball easily because he's built like a 12-year old. Just watch him next time he's on the ball; he won't have the confidence to shoot himself, if he has the pace to beat defenders, I have never seen him use it. (Riskit for a Biskit)

Long is the worst of our 4 strikers. He really hasn't improved much in his time here and we need to push on and let the lad further his career at a lower level IMO. I dont count Mooney because he will never get near the first team. (Deathy)

Third most assists in the championship last week, and now two more assists

I suppose the next big question is does he become a regular starter next year, or is it another year on the bench?

Schards#2 Not been a fan but he was MOM even before he scored. Looks several times better than he has at any time in his career at the moment.

Perhaps because he's had his 22nd birthday and a few more starts...

No-one gets it right all the time but I think Snowball deserves his moment of gloating after recent events.

Me, I don't mind a bit of smugness when it's because things have gone well for Reading, it's when it's the other way round that I find it so objectionable.

Shane was Long was immense tonight. Fcuking brilliant. Again, had just commented that he was heading for my man of the match vote beofre his first goal. Kebe proved his worth tonight, the rest were good with Cisse perhaps the only disappointment for me.

A word for their young ex-Dartford strikeron his first start, he has a bright future.

Cisse was terrible. Didn't tackle, didn't pass well and didn't go forward. For Coppell to sub him in the 62nd minute he must have been having a bad game.

Was Tabb injured then?

I thought Karacan was great again...
