Dan Harding - Sign him up!

by Deathy » 09 May 2009 20:35

I was very critical of his loan signing. I had watched him numerous times when I lived in Leeds and he was poor for them, but he has been superb recently and I would like to see him given a contract here in the summer.

Stretch is injury prone, and Harding can also play left wing as well, and there is a likely departure on that side of the pitch this summer.
An ideal replacement perhaps, especially when pennies will be harder to come by compared to recent years, and last summer we were tight enough!

Done a good job on Eagles today. Hopefully resulting in him missing the 2nd leg on Tuesday (nice kick on the hip!)

I think Keano might have something to say about that.

I would be happy to see that
He has played well since his debut for us, after a very long time having not played first team football as well

Really? Isn't Harding a free transfer in June?

 We wont have much money this summer and you turn your nose up at a free transfer that is already bedded in at the club and performing better than many of the first team regulars. Unbelievable.

Harding > Armstrong

due to the fact he can actually pass a football

Because its the second half of the season which everyone remembers, and nobody has performed during that period and there have been many changes in the team. Stretch has been our most consistent and honest performer but doesnt mean hes a particularly good player

1) We'll have plenty of money
2) He's just not that good
3) We already have a very good left back and reasonable cover in Kelly. Lets sign a few people for the massive holes we have in our squad. Like Right back, Wingers, Strikers, Goalie, central midfield and centreback.

I'm delighted Harding's done enough that we haven't fallen apart or had to play SHunt at left-back, but the guy looks a bit lost when he has to cross the half-way line. I get the feeling he's playing at about the top of his game right now. Useful as back-up, perhaps, but some distance off Armstrong's quality, and unlikely to be able to play at a higher level.

That reason being that he was a slightly better than expected replacement for Shorey (or at least the Shorey of a couple of years ago), and the majority of the rest of the squad playing well below their potential.

I'm on the fence here as I;ve not seen kelly play.

But from what I've seen of Harding he's gives his all and he is good.

He's put in some decent challenges and hasn't put a foot wrong.

Perhaps as he's only a loanee with no expectations he has no nerves about him so can play well.

If he's on a free come the end of the season then he's in the shopping window. Having started to settle in he's not made any glaring errors, tracks back when needed and makes committed tackles. With the going forward past the half way line, perhaps he's being tentative and concious of not making glaring errors. He looks solid so far so if the club are able to sign him up then they should do so.

The early signs look promising despite the lack of first team experience.

Plays better football than Armstrong, is better going forward than Armstrong, provides the competition he needs at left back. If we can get him cheap, then he is a more than capable replacement and offers us a completely different option on that flank. JK unfortunately is far too 'early' in his career to offer suitable cover

But there isn't!!! Where do you get this from? You keep thinking we can make £2m bids for players in the summer even at this level. You are so disalousioned.

Where was the money last summer?

There will be even less available this season!!

Armstrong has been a solid performer, someone else wrote on here he won POTY by virtue of putting 7/10 performances every week which is true. He is a solid defender but shocking going forward.

I think teams figured out double mark SHunt and give Stretch space as he cant hurt them offensively. Hardings only played a few games but looks far more composed then Stretch on the ball.
