Consider this

by hellopremiership » 16 May 2009 14:12

Cast your mind back to the 13th of April. Reading vs Blackpool away. DJ Campbell's goal was offside yet allowed to stand. Reading ended up with a 2 - 2 draw instead of a 2 - 1 win. 1 point instead of 3. Those extra 2 points would have put Reading in the automatic promotion places. We would be up. Coppell, Wally, Kevin, Murts, USA, Doobs, Lita, Gary Frewen, Scott Golbourne, Tom Hateley and Daniel Spence could all still be here. We'd have at least 1 more season of Premiership football and Premiership money, even if we struggled. Just how much was that goal worth, to the club and to you?

I thought Birmingham finished 6 points ahead of Reading.

I take it maths is not your greatest strength.

We finished 6 points behind Birmingham

I see your point(s) about Watford, but it's been argued and almost agreed that the phantom goal affected the whole of the game after that. We could have won there, too.

If you want to play this game you need look at the four games against Bolton and Fulham, and the riduclous scorelines against Pompey and Spurs.

Anyone of those games going differently and we'd have never been in the Championship.

Shit happens, get over it.

Shit happens to every team.

And....

would Coppell still be here if we went up?

I'm guessing he'd leave whatever happened.

And we'd probably still get rid of the people we got rid of.

More so than that - just one single kick could make the difference - like when Shane Long decided to do a flashy scissors-kick away at St Andrews, when he had all the time in the world to control it and score. One goal to change that game to a win and we would have stayed up.

There are thousands of individual moments and decisions that could change a game and a season. Don't torture yourself thinking about them they're in the past!

Did you go to Blackpool? Blackpool were always going to score as we backed off.

We wouldn't of been in the play-offs,if we had won the more games at home.

There's no point in really talking about the what if, buts, and maybe aspect of the games. We simply did not show up for some games, were too inconsistent and certain gamles and formations and combinations did not work. Time to move on to next season.

I can;t believe someone thinks that an offside goal at Blackpool had anything to do with Scott Goldbourne not getting a new deal !!

Sorry thought that was for me, rather than with me.

Humble apologies. I'm a bit pissed and fed up having watched Norway romp home with the Eurovision title totally undeservedly.
