Plymouth_Royal There is no way in hell he is coming back here. my friend from devizes outside swindon has shared some interesting information about simon cox, as his dad is good mates with the directors of swindon town. about a month before he left he told coppell that he wants four games in the first team to show what he can do as he had done so well at swindon. He said that if he doesnt perform well and score then he can have no complaints about not being involved in the final 16. coppell said i dont want to take a risk with you and if you do play it will be out of position on the wing so you can get educated in the way we play. cox said well i'll go to swindon and prove you wrong, the rest is history and he is now hot property in league 1. he will never come back here again as he feels he has been unfairly treated by coppell.
also that swindon are cleverly getting around our 40% sell on clause. basically celtic want sean morrison and simon cox so swindon are saying pay 3.1million for morrison and 100k for cox so we get 40k rather than over a million. very good bit of business from there point of view.

Interesting conspiracy theory.
Cox was a bit of an idiot if he thought he was going to get 4 games on the bounce upfront in the Premier League after showing decet form in League 1.
Believe it when I see it. I kind of doubt it'll happen given that would shaft Cox and his agent, who I believe get a cut of transfer fees?

The weakness in that story is clear to anyone with any business education. The full value of the deal will be measured in terms of the assessed value of the exchanged player + the cash addition, so the 40% will still be based on the full value of Simon Cox in that deal. Similarly, if Morrison has a sell on clause his value would be (Cox - the cash element).

im really not making this up mate. this is exactly what i've heard word for word. As for business education no i havent had any as im 23 and just finished my degree!!
But I dont see how what you said makes any sense. Swindon know cox is worth about 2.5 million and they want just under a million for sean morrison. its up to them how much they value for each player and if it means adjusting the values so the club gets the best deal for there long term future then so be it. They can easily say to celtic buy both players seperatley morrison for 3million and cox for a 100k. If there is some sort of legality they have to follow when it comes to the value of a player then why dont you use your vast business knowledge and enlighten me.

He definitely didn't deserve them, it was just as well our other forwards were banging them in.

Ian Royal So with Rodgers all but confirmed and in post, does that increase, decrease or not affect the chances of Cox coming back.
Obviously he's going to know Brendon, could that have a significant bearing?

If Tommy Smith is indeed his top target, Cox isn't even in his thinking! Unless of course you are hanging on to dear life that loads of money is available...

Maybe he's waiting to see if Doyle goes, because we won't need Cox as much. Maybe the stuff about Smith being his top target is paper talk. Smith from what I've heard can play on the wing and is in the last year of his contract. We may have some sort of preferential clause in Cox's contract (who is a striker) which means he won't cost us the £2m+ a lot of people are talking about.
No reason we couldn't get both if winger and striker are areas Rodgers want's to strengthern and they are his targets.
