Good to see Henry not get a run-out.

Scott Davies is the new Sidwell, however.

Promising start and it was really nice to see some very talented youngsters given the freedom to play.

AFed - 7 - Superb save second half and always looking for the quick distribution
Bertrand - 8 - I was a bit miffed at the start Stretch didn't start but he looked assured in defence and attack
Pearce - 7 - A born leader and never troubled by Adebola.
Cisse - 7 - Not much to do but did everything with the minimum of fuss
Rosenior - 7 - Got better as the game when on and consitently got in behind the defence. Made a couple of crutial tackles.
Karacan - 8 MOTM - Ran the game and looks to be keen to be the senior midfielder
Davies - 7 - Looks so confident and his immediate instinct is to attack. Loses a point because I think he should have scored
Tabb - 6 - The quietest of the midfield three and I suspect will be the one that drops out for Matejovsky when he's back
Kebe - 7 - Same old Kebe, so much ability, worries defenders but never seems to produce the right ball
Robson-Kanu - 6 - Decent enough debut but struggled to make much impact
Church - 6 - looked more effective on the right but struggled as a lone striker

Long - 7 - Not sure why he didn't start, injected pace up front and held the ball up well. Seems to be much stronger and canny than last year

All well and good pasing it about, but knocking it along the back line waiting for space that isnt appearing is just slowing the game down,

Penetration and firepower needed. The player worked hard and gave their everything and cant fault them on that.

chilipepper91 I assume the Forest player was sent off for an elbow?

Or a fist - I'd seen him do two or three little punches on players after the ball had gone before that, so all credit to the lino for staying alert and having the balls to report it.

Have to say that Forest used to be a great team but these days they're just a cynical disgrace - lots of little niggly things of the ball all the time, gamesmanship left right and centre and time-wasting galore (like Lynch, no 33, who twice insisted on being handed/thrown a ball when there was one on the ground within a foot of him.)

But that's Billy Davies for you - Clougie must be turning in his grave.

Sounds a bit like us under Rodgers...good football but just lacking that cutting edge.

Readingfanman
cmonurz
Readingfanman Rosenior - 5.5 - Poor crosses, considering the oldest player, didn't play well.

Jay Tabb is older, Jimmy Kebe is older than the both of them, and Kalifa Cisse older than all three, to be pedantic.

Weird. I could have sworn BBCRB said Rosenior was the oldest player.
Were you at the game then or is your scoring and analysis based on what BBC Berks said?

Super_horns good football but just lacking that cutting edge.

It's been pretty much the story of all our friendlies, so it's no surprise.

That it was the same for Watford does perhaps hint that signing Tommy Smith wouldn't be the answer.

Brilliant game. For a blank, it was exciting and for that I am pleased.
I enjoyed the new style, it seems to suit everyone 'xcept Rosenior, who continues to "HOOOOF!" whenever he is out of ideas.

Federici [8] Improved on his Chelsea performance. Everything that was asked of him, he coped with well. Distribution key to a few attacks.

Rosenior [5] Ugh. Everyone else manages to keep their heads and pass, but this lad seems to blank out the new passing regime. Everytime he touched the ball I dreaded losing possession because a lot of his passes seemed to go straight to the opposition. He needs to improve and get to grips with the regime. Solid defensively.
Cisse [7] Solid today. Didn't let anything past him and his passing has improved massively. Good distribution.
Pearce [9] MOTM for me. He dealt with anything and everything and charged forward when there was space. Commanding in defence and often tried to point Cisse, Bertrand, Federici and Rosenior in the right direction for a pass (even if he was ignored).
Bertrand [6] Didn't notice him a lot, his charge from the LB position into a CF position was brilliant, however. Not sure if I'd prefer Stretch?

Karacan [8] Engine of our midfield. Energetic as always.
Tabb [7] Terrier. Combative, unafraid, but somewhat uninvolved.
Davies [9] Pushed out of MOTM by Pearce. He should be a key figure this season. His long shots, free kicks and lung-busting runs will be a danger to any defence in the Championship this season.

Kebe [7] Brilliant runs forward, average control today, but how he missed that sitter I'll never know.
Robson-Kanu [6] Wasn't really massively involved, but when he did have possession he scared the defence. Some decent cross/shots.
Church [6] Not enough service for him to really do anything, but made a few decent runs and one that should have been found in the 1st half.

Subs:
Long [6] Again, not enough service but his pace helps him pick up any loose balls. Coped well under pressure today. Should start ahead of Church, for me.

We missed Matejovsky today. In a game like this we missed that through ball/pass, or that shot that would have opened up an opportunity/scored. However, I'm not upset at all about the result and the performance entertained all. Good game. Glad I could go - thank Coca-Cola!!

Can't be bothered to rate individuals but for me Davies and Long were our best players today.

Davies seems to be the driving force from midfield we have missed since Sidwell left, powerful running and that boy does he have a shot on him. As for Long, I felt when he came on we finally looked to go beyond their defence, he may not be everyone's favourite player but he troubled them when he got on the ball.

As for the team in general, I thought that the defence looked incredibly good in possession but alot of the time the rest of the team seemed to lack the belief to push on at times which resulted in alot of backwards passing.

On a side note Kebe must be removed from the left wing, he got ability but that's not alot of good having to keep cutting back when in possession and losing the momentum on attack oh and Simon Church is definitely not a wide forward, has no clue about how to position himself.

My view isn't worth reading, memory like a sieve, can't tell half the players apart from where I was sat (so many new faces and shirt numbers that are not that easy to read). No idea why the Forest player was sent off, No idea why there was alot of Chelsea changing and Jose Mourinoho's name chanted and missed the golden gamble numbers. There was a fit female steward guarding G4 and KIngsley was quite amusing before the game and the kids clearly love him.

Female steward - 7/10 Could have done with opening a few more buttons on her blouse
Kingsley - 8.5/10 Mascot of the match, Ran the show before kickoff.
PA System - 5/10 Crap as ever but at least it was quiet this time so I didn't have to listen to it.
Drummer - 6/10 Improvement.

Apologies to RFM, just a bee in my bonnet about people giving opinions based on radio commentary which isn't necesarilly accurate (plus people calling into BBC Berks after the game to moan only to then confess that they were not at the game!)

I found it pretty dull, particularly the first half. I did like Jem, though, and Cisse had his best game for us for a while. Neither side had much of a cutting edge and a draw was a fair result really - about the same number of chances for both sides, but the one presented to Earnshaw towards the end should have been put away.

From what I've heard a pretty, neat and nice performance but we lack cutting edge to an extent. Gutted I couldn't make the game today but it sounds like if we get Nunt fit and on form he could provide the final piece up front and make us a force to be reckoned with!
