Ian Royal
Blue&White Mage Pearce has been rubbish in every game i've been too, every game I've seen on telly and most games I've followed via SSN/hob nob yet he's our skipper and rodgers favourite boy.. Why?

I Remember us being 2-1 up against burnley or blackpool just before the playoffs and pearce pushing over an opposition player the team then scored from a freekick (soft header back post)

His own goal against chelsea and that debacle against Newcastle,
I'm guessing there are others and perhaps he's done lots of good stuff I just missed it in the bad.

Excellent against Forest.

Not last season he wasn't..he backed off and backed off and backed off and Forest scored...I remember saying on here at the time that Pearce was far from the finished article. That remains the case and yet he's captain.
He did well against them this season granted.

Who said anything about last season? I was talking about the opening game.

I honestly dont believe this ramshakle excuse for a professional football club is down to BR, he has had the guts ripped out of the side, he is having to play the youngsters as he has no option, this club is again proving to be totally pathetic in the transfer market, we gained our success with bargain buys but that was never going to happen again, we have filled our side with inexperienced lads, who will try thier hearts out, but thats nowhere near enough, these lads will not have a clue on how to fight the inevitable relegation fight we are heading for. This situation has beeen heading for over two years, no efffort to stay in the Premiership and no absolutely desire to get back there last season, I hope that common sense returns and "ego-man" gets out and gives us a chance to become a creditable side again, coz the only way we are going with this clown at the helm is down, we need someone who is prepared to put some ambition, effort and desire back into the club. At the moment you just cant see us scoring a goal let alone winning a league match. Thanks SJM for getting into the premiership, even more of an ego boost, now cock off !

It's only the league cup, so I'm not overly bothered about tonight's result.

I know you were Ian which is why I added my last sentence but I was alluding to the growing list of mistakes that Pearce is making. Just as well his surname isn't Duberry otherwise the lynch mob would be after him by now...but he's an Academy boy and can do no wrong. :|

Lets not forget the poor results started after Christmas. This is just a continuation.

But in injury time? Was it necessary? Where's the footballing brain or did he switch off like he did vs Newcastle? A couple of big mistakes in a handful of games is probably why people are having a go. He needs to prove himself to everyone, let's hope he does.

Of course it matters. Another defeat, more doom & gloom, go to Oakwell pissing our pants and losing again. Or, if we had won - maybe the turning point, go to Oakwell with more confidence, maybe sneak our first win and get a big Prem team at home in the next round, get interest back.

As it is the season gets worse and worse. If we had been having a good season with the one iffy result I would have agreed with you, but as it stands it's just another nail in the coffin.

I think we can take a lot from the game. On top for much of it. Loads of good chances we couldn't quite put away and only their keeper stopping us scoring 3 or 4.

burnley's good run last season against a back drop of shite league form started with a solid cup run that brought the team together and gelled them for a successful league campaign. the league cup doesnt really matter but, in the case of us, it would have been good for giving our younglings some much needed experience. shame that they took their chance tonight to show what a total lack of tactical nouse brenda has brought with her.
